Description:

1964 Pontiac GTO Hardtop Coupe   History   The Pontiac GTO is an American automobile built by Pontiac Division of General Motors from 1964 to 1974. The first generation GTO was a muscle car classic of the 1960s and 1970s era. Although there were earlier muscle cars, the Pontiac GTO is considered by some to have started the trend with all four domestic automakers offering a variety of competing models.   The first Pontiac GTO was an option package for the Pontiac Le Mans, available with the two-door coupe, hardtop coupe, and convertible body styles. The US$295, package included a 389ci V8 rated at 325hp at 4800rpm with a single Carter AFB four-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust, chromed valve covers and air cleaner, 7-blade clutch fan, a floor-shifted three-speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter, stiffer springs, larger diameter front sway bar, wider wheels with 7.50×14 redline tires, hood scoops, and GTO badges. Optional equipment included a four-speed manual, Super Turbine 300 two-speed automatic transmission, more powerful "Tri-Power" carburetion rated at 348hp, metallic drum brake linings, limited-slip differential, heavy-duty cooling, ride and handling package, and the usual array of power and convenience accessories.     VIN 824P131386   This beautiful Goat started its life as a racecar in Ohio in the early 1960’s. It was retired by 1970 and then moved to Texas where it was stored for 15 years. It was then relocated to Missouri where it was owned by a group of car collectors for another 12 years. The restoration was done 10 years ago. The most recent owner purchased the car from St. Louis, MS, five years ago.   PHS Documents are included in the sale.      Mechanics   1964 389ci/325hp Engine (#9773158, Suffix 78XW, 381215)    Non Original Motor, Period Correct   Tri Power   Muncie 4-Speed Transmission (#3925660)    10 Bolt Posi-Traction Rear End with 3.55:1 Gear Ratio    9770716 Heads   1964 GTO 3 2bbl Rochester Carburetion with Progressive Linkage   Manual Steering   Manual Drum Brakes   New Brake Lines   Large Radiator Support   4 Core Radiator   Stock Type Distributor   Tower Clamps   Tar Top Battery and Spring Cables   All Stock Aluminized Exhaust System   New Reproduction Splitters   Chrome Valve Covers   Spiral Shocks   New Springs and Body Mounts   New Fuel Lines and Sending Unit   New Gas Tank     Body   Stock Marimba Red   PPG Base Coat/Clear Coat   Black Vinyl Top   All Original Sheet Metal   New Chrome   Beautiful Grille and Emblems   New Tail Panel   All Correct Hardware is Replated, Not Painted   Tinted Glass   T3 Headlights   Doors Fit and Operate Properly   Door Lips and Jambs are Clean and Solid   Undercarriage is Clean and Nicely Painted   Frame and Floorboards are Solid   Rockers have Clean Straight Pinch Welds   Rocker Molding is in Great Shape   Solid and Nicely Painted Trunk   Mat, Jack and Spare Tire Included   Hurst MAG Wheels, Fully Polished   New Reproduction Trim Rings and Center Caps   Redline Tires - 7.5x14      Interior   All New Black Interior   Bucket Seats   4-Speed Console   Correct Hurst Shifter   Factory 4 Spoke Wood Wheel   Factory Tachometer   Aftermarket Column Mounted Sun Super Tach   Aftermarket Gauges Under the Dash   Front Floor Mats   Stock AM Radio   Dash is in Great Shape   Seatbelts Up Front   Beautiful Headliner   Door Panels are in Great Shape   Wipers and Horn Work     Don’t Miss Out! Call Tom 7 Days a Week at 248-974-9513! Vanguard Motor Sales started 25 years ago as a part time hobby. Within the last decade we have become the Motor City’s ultimate classic car, muscle and street rod dealership, both locally and internationally. Vanguard Motor Sales is an experienced seller with integrity, and our 100% positive feedback on eBay supports that! Click the “eBay Feedback” button on the home page of our website, or the number next to our name on eBay (vanguardmotorsales), and you will be able to read all of the positive feedback we’ve received over the last 10 years!   Our inventory is always stored indoors! We have a brand new, state-of-the-art, 30,000 square foot facility that is open to the public. We would love for you to stop by and see us! We are located 20 minutes away from Detroit Metro Airport, and would be happy to pick you up and drop you off if you fly in. New cars arrive daily, and our inventory is always changing.   Vanguard Motor Sales owns all of our inventory, we are not a consignment dealership. You are dealing directly with the owner of the vehicle, not a middle man. Every car we purchase is of the utmost quality. Our mission is to exceed your expectations!   If you are interested in this car, or any of our other 125+ cars, don’t wait for the auction to end on eBay. Call us immediately! You may lose out if you wait! Remember, our showroom is open to the public. When a walk-in customer puts a deposit on a car we reserve the right to close the eBay listing before the auction ends. If you think this car is “The One”, we can end the auction by adding a “But It Now” to the auction for the reserve price. If an auction ends and the bids do not meet the reserve price, we will continue to relist it until it sells. Do not hesitate to contact Tom 7 days a week!   We take over 100 photographs of the car, as well as a high definition video, so you know exactly what to expect. We encourage you to hire an independent inspector to check out the car, prior to purchase or bidding. We have a hoist available for views of the undercarriage, and our mechanics are available to speak with if you have any questions.   Vanguard Motor Sales has sold classic and muscle cars to customers in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, France, Norway, the UAE and many other countries. We are experts in over seas shipping and handle all of the details. The shipping companies we work with are insured so your vehicle will be safe and secure during transport. We ship all of our vehicles enclosed, so they leave our shop clean and they are delivered to your driveway clean.   We''ve built our reputation on selling high quality cars honestly and fairly. We have up-front, no haggle pricing! Call Tom today, and let Vanguard Motor Sales park your dream in your driveway!   248-974-9513   We make every effort to represent this vehicle as accurately as possible and to the best of knowledge at the time of listing. Content is based on inspection, research and/or information provided by previous owner(s). We encourage buyers to make a thorough, independent inspection and investigation to verify the accuracy of any claims to originality, history, equipment or other information provided prior to the purchase.
