For those of you who love Mustangs (who doesn''t?), it''s going to be hard not to fall in love with this incredible 1970 Mach 1. It takes one of the most attractive Mustangs of all time and adds just a few custom touches to give it a classic look with just a hint of modern performance underneath. With a build cost of over $65,000, this Mustang represents a screaming bargain. The bright red paint is quite similar to what it wore when it was new, albeit nothing coming out of Ford factories in 1970 looked this good. Ford''s fastback (or "Sportsroof") Mach 1 looks fast just sitting still and made the perfect foundation for their most popular performance model. Fit and finish on this gorgeous car are extremely good, with nice panel gaps, good alignment, and a spectacular shine on the two-stage urethane paint that''s so fresh you can almost smell it. All the correct Mach 1 details are there, from the Shaker hood to the ribbed rocker panel moldings to the louvered hood with rear wing, both of which are brand new. Correct black stripes and ''351'' callouts on the hood help with the aggressive look and it appears that even the chrome bumpers are new, giving this Mustang a very crisp, clean appearance. The black bucket seat interior is correct for this particular car and is perhaps the only interior that can live up to the exterior''s high standards. New seat covers, fresh door panels, and reproduction carpets make it feel almost new inside, and while most of it''s just the way Ford did it, a few upgrades make for a more entertaining driving experience. Most notable is the addition of Auto Meter dials in the original instrument panel, a neat trick that usually generates a double-take from onlookers, but you also get an AM/FM/cassette stereo in the center stack. This car came from the factory with air conditioning, so it''s likely that it spent its life someplace warm and dry, and with a woodgrained center console and C4 3-speed automatic transmission, it lives up to its billing as a grand tourer. Ford-logo floor mats protect those new carpets and the trunk is fully upholstered in black carpet that''s not 100% accurate but makes a big difference in the way this car feels going down the road. This car is also correctly outfitted with an H-code 351 cubic inch V8, which looks buried under the big Shaker hood scoop and A/C compressor. But rest assured, this torquey small block delivers performance that matches its red-hot looks. Finned valve covers are the most notable deviation from stock, and with Ford Blue in all the visible areas, it does look pretty stock otherwise. By 1970, power steering and power front disc brakes were far more common, making this car quite easy to drive, and with 2.75 gears out back, it''s probably one of the best highway cruisers we''ve got. Ceramic-coated long-tube headers feed a new Flowmaster exhaust system, so it has that traditional Ford small block cackle, and you can see in the photos that the underside of this car has nothing to hide. The only serious upgrade are those pretty Eleanor-style wheels, which carry modern 235/40/17 front and 275/40/17 rear performance radials. One of the most popular years of one of America''s most popular pony car in fantastic colors with a fresh restoration all make this Mustang a relative bargain in its class. Call today!
