When bright colors come into our showroom, it''s usually Tri-Five Chevys or early 70''s Mopars that wear these vivid colors so proudly. So it was a bit refreshing to see this 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 roll in and glow under our lights. Looking for a practical cruiser that will turn heads wherever it goes? You may have just found your next car. The recipient of a frame-off restoration, this Ford wears its bright orange and white paint proudly while retaining an authentic 50''s look that enthusiast of all ages know and love. Look closely around the car and you''ll notice subtle, custom touches. The hood and trunk have been de-chromed, while the holes and door handles have been filled and shaved. The rear quarter side trim has also been removed and holes filled. Step towards the front of the car and you''re greeted by frenched headlights that top a custom bar grill. Behind that grill are a pair of custom parking lights that nicely sit above the big chrome bumper, which has had the bumper guards removed. Walk towards the rear of the vehicle, past the dual front fender mirrors, and the Mercury Turnpike cruiser skirts over the rear wheels, and you''ll find a custom painted Continental kit that is nestled in the massive, chrome rear bumper. Mounted in the rear window is a 3rd brake light that changes red, green, or yellow depending on if you''re braking, accelerating, or ''yellow'' for neither. Wrapping up the overall style are the dual antennas out back and the Dodge Lancer spinners on the front wheel covers. The orange and white theme continues when you open the doors and have a seat in the custom 6-way power adjustable 1980 Lincoln front bench. Both front and rear seats are firm and nicely covered in fresh, orange and white vinyl thanks to P&P Upholstery in Crystal River, FL. The dash is body matched and the occupants are provided with basic comforts to make weekend cruising a blast, such as and AM/FM/Cassette player, cruise control, A/C, heat, power steering and power windows. Because of the shaved door handles and trunk, there is a power opener for both doors and the trunk. For extra convenience, a Lincoln map light has also been installed. There are even a couple of aftermarket gauges mounted below the dash to keep an eye on engine vitals, and a switch panel that controls the orange undercarriage lights when you''re ready to show off this beauty at your local cruise-in. Everything seems to work as it should and it''s just a pleasant cabin to spend time in. Powering this cruiser is a Ford 302 cubic inch V8 that is mated to an automatic Ford C-4 transmission. Power is sent to a Ford nine inch that is filled with highway-friendly 2.75 gears. The engine bay is clean and the motor presents well with good looking valve covers and a chrome air cleaner. Up front, spindles from a Lincoln Versailles have been added, along with their power disc brakes, while drums remain in the rear. Also out back, 2 inch lowering blocks have been added to help add a cool, custom stance to the vehicle. And that reliable 302 breathes through a custom dual exhaust that is finished off with dual Lake Pipes for an awesome sound! This 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 is the perfect catch for the enthusiast looking for a unique, custom 50''s cruiser. It will turn heads and induce compliments.
