As good looking as the Mustang is, there''s always something that can be done to take it to the next level. This 2006 Mustang GT, for example, received a full makeover from the guys at Bully Dog, and the result is a two-tone show piece that will always stand out in a very crowded field. The 2005 Mustang redesign was a slam dunk by every measure, but when you sell a record-breaking number of cars, it''s hard to stand out. Bully Dog, famous for upgrading diesel powerplants, took this 2006 Mustang GT and gave it a professional once-over to totally transform the look. The stunning two-tone paint consists of basic black up top and a gorgeous cranberry red down below, which was custom-mixed just for this car. The GT''s shape was subtly altered thanks to a ground-effects package that includes front and rear bumper extensions, a trick dual-nostril hood, and side skirts to visually lower the car. And you have to respect their restraint, as they decided not to go crazy with a giant wing out back. The quarter windows were blanked-out and big scoops were affixed just behind the doors to lend it a competition-ready look. The finish is simply stunning and there''s no doubt that this Mustang was built to generate attention, which is what it does best. Even though it was finished a few years ago, the sucker still looks like a million bucks today. The Mustang''s interior received a makeover as well, and it''s extremely well done. The gray seats with black inserts are a neat twist on the familiar old look, and the light-colored interior makes for a comfortable driving environment. Custom Bully Dog emblems were installed throughout the interior, including embroidered on the headrests and on the trunk-mounted amplifiers (more on those in a moment). The instrument panel is standard Mustang GT, so it has retro-looking gauges and a fat steering wheel that makes for great ergonomics, and a big billet shift knob makes it easy to stir the 5-speed gearbox. The entertainment system uses a Sony head unit with built-in touch screen that folds away when not in use, while the trunk is filled with a custom enclosure for the three subwoofers and dual Xplod amplifiers. Some guys like to pop the hoods on their cars, but when you own this one, you''ll be opening the trunk. The standard 4.6-liter V8 is plenty potent for this GT, so it was left largely stock. With only 10,957 miles on the clock, it''s barely broken-in and runs superbly. It cranks to life instantly and idles with a muscular rumble, and with those seemingly bottomless wells of torque from the V8, it pulls hard at any speed. The engine bay is nicely detailed and extremely clean, as you''d expect from a car that spent a lot of its life being admired under the lights at shows, and there are no worries about neglect or deferred maintenance; this Mustang is ready to run! The 5-speed shift action is light, the clutch is progressive, and the stock rear end has a set of gears that don''t mind cruising. All the standard Mustang goodies are still here, ranging from 4-wheel disc brakes to a cackling dual exhaust system, and it sits on gorgeous Konig wheels that must have cost a fortune. Staggered 255/35/20 and 285/30/20 radials are fitted, which totally stuff the lowered wheel wells. A trick custom Mustang with all the work already done for you. Building a custom at this level would cost a small fortune, but you can own this one, ready to rock, for about the price of a new V6 Mustang. Call today!
