This is a private sale of my ground up complete rebuild and conversion of a 1963 Healey Sprite mk2, to the relatively rare and iconic 'Austin Healey Sebring Sprite'
The donor car is a 1963 Austin Healey mk2 Sprite, having been completely stripped of all bodywork, parts and components, the chassis tub was then sent away to be stripped of the old paint etc and put into prime.
On return to the workshop, the chassis tub was repaired, prepared and painted in 'Old English White' prior to the fitting of the body work. The body shell has also a polyester undercoat, primer and paint work to match the chassis inside and out.
Archers Garage of Oldbury nr Birmingham, long being associated with classic British Sports Cars supplied the Sebring Conversion Replica Body kit used to transform an everyday car into this very streamlined iconic Sebring Sprite.
The body kit was fitted and the bodyshell was painted by "Bromsgrove Body Repairs" in Worcestershire. The prepared Bodyshell was painted in BMC 'Old English White' and has been re trimmed with new carpets and the original period Seats in a deep red viny material.
The Bodyshell is fitted with a half roll cage and a 15" Alloy dark Wood Rimmed Steering Wheel to finish off the classic look of the interior.
A brand new set of Chrome plated Wire wheels and tyres including the spare, with the Bullet Style chrome wing mirrors and Monza flip top fuel cap finish off the exterior of the car giving an authentic period racing car look.
The original 1098cc has now been removed and replaced with the prefered 1275cc engine unit and gearbox running on twin 1"1/4 SU Carburettors with gauze finished ram pipes together with Stainless Steel 'Bell' Exhaust System.
There has also been an upgrade to the electrics with electronic ignition along with a brand new cloth braided wiring loom. The clutch has been changed for a 'Borg & Beck' clutch with new thrust baring along with new copper brake linings and dual clutch & brake Master cylinder. A brand new Radiator and Steering Rack supplied by AH Spares, of Southam, Warwickshire, has also been fitted and gives a good positive feel to the drive.
The original car has a good history file and can be traced back to date of sale and a destination point in Hong Kong while being owned by military personnel on various bases in Hong Kong with the cars eventual repatriation to the United Kingdom in 1985.
