Description:

You can still get a lot of truck for your money with this 1986 Chevy C10 pickup and it offers a sinister look and plenty of horsepower that are practically thrown in for free. These trucks represent great value as starter collectables and their future looks bright as enthusiasts wake up to the idea that their time has finally come. As you know, it takes good sheetmetal to wear black, and this sure doesn''t look like a $16,000 truck from the outside. The deep, shiny finish makes the most of the dark paint to show off straight bodywork and a nice finish that will surely attract some attention. With a cowl-induction hood, it has a somewhat aggressive look, no doubt enhanced by those big wheels and the slightly raked stance. It doesn''t look like this truck was ever wrecked simply because everything fits together quite well and it hasn''t worked for a living in years. There''s plenty of shiny trim that adds some nice contrast to the blacked-out pickup, and while it all appears to be original, it''s most definitely welcome here. The bed is protected by a drop-in bedliner that looks almost new and with it, the truck really is ready, willing, and able to help out around the house. The well-appointed cabin offers a lot of recent soft parts, including a cloth seat cover and a set of fresh black carpets. Matching door panels add an upscale feel and this truck is loaded with factory options, so it''s a really pleasant driver. Most notably, it carries factory A/C, power windows and locks, cruise control, and even a tilt column, which is a rather rare find in a pickup truck of this vintage. The steering wheel is starting to show its age, but the dash pad is remarkably free of splits despite living its life someplace where the sun is warm. Factory gauges still look good and are surrounded by a brushed metal fascia that lends the interior a nice contrast. The factory AM/FM radio remains in the dash, so you know this truck wasn''t hacked up by some guy in his back yard. Climb in and hit the road! There''s a stout 350 cubic inch V8 under the hood that gives the lightweight pickup the moves of something considerably more sporting. Aside from some chrome dress-up and a 4-barrel carburetor, it looks quite stock, which is good news for reliability''s sake. It starts easily and runs well, and has the kind of low-end torque that you need in a pickup and that''s also insanely entertaining on the street. A throaty dual exhaust system with glasspack-style mufflers sounds impressive and you''re really gonna dig the twin pipes sticking out from under the rear bumper. A heavy-duty TH400 3-speed automatic transmission is up to the rigors of hauling and blasting around town and it rides remarkably well with a set of monoleaf springs on the rear axle. There are also new sway bar bushings to firm up handling a bit and the underside offers proof that this truck didn''t spend its life someplace where it snows. Awesome 20-inch Boss Motorsports wheels fit the truck''s personality quite well and carry fat performance radials to make this truck a reasonably tidy handler, too. This is not a perfect truck. It''s not a show truck. But it is a very affordable old hauler that looks great and will always have a long list of potential suitors hoping to take it home. In the meantime, get in and enjoy.
