Description:

In the days of 650 horsepower pony cars and companies that engineer bolt-on performance products for anything from a Civic to a Cadillac, it’s safe to say the pro-touring movement is alive and well! And every so often we get a killer pro-tourer that instantly draws a crowd, even in our showroom of exclusive, one-of-a-kind muscle cars. This magazine-featured Camaro, which comes equipped with supercharged LS power, a modern 6-speed transmission and a first class Chassisworks suspension, has been drawing stares ever since it debuted at the 2011 SEMA show. And, in fact, between its clean body mods and cool Ride Tech stance, the car seems to have so much appeal that we’ve joked about selling tickets just to look at it! Instead, we decided to give it a fantastic price and offer it to you as an amazing classic that can be enjoyed both on the road and at the show. Recently transformed into a lean, mean pro-tourer, this spectacular Camaro, nicknamed ''Blue Dream'', displays great bodywork under an excellent finish. Its metamorphosis started with a straight, factory-built frame and original 1969 Camaro body that appear to have never seen any significant damage. Those components were shipped to Camaro Dave''s of Firestone, Colorado where that body’s panels were patched, media blasted and thoroughly re-aligned. Once the car’s newly tweaked fuselage was massaged into acceptable shape, a smooth coat of Electric Blue basecoat was sealed in a thick clearcoat shell. And today, this Chevy sits as one eye-catching classic that mixes major street presence with lethal curb appeal! There’s no question that the ’69 Camaro is one of the best-looking classics of all time. And when a skilled builder adds a few custom touches, it makes the car that much better! At the front of this clean F1, a polished Rally Sport grille hangs Detroit Speed HIDs above a smoothed bumper and crystal clear parking lamps. Behind that grille, a custom cowl induction hood is centered between a custom header, capped wipers and a flush-mount windshield that’s framed by a tan convertible top. At the sides of that hood, sculpted fenders combine with trick door handles, shaved marker lamps and painted, low-profile mirrors to add just the right amount of detail to the car’s slick blue profile. And at the back of those fenders, an integrated spoiler rides above a ‘pop up’ fuel filler, one-off tail lights, a cut and body-matched bumper, and a custom valence that’s fitted with polished exhaust outlets. This spectacular pro-tourer is powered by a 5.7 liter LS1 V8, which combines 6 PSI of polished Magnuson boost with the kind of performance and reliability that owners of ‘old tech’ small block cars only dream about. Straight from GM, Chevrolet’s generation III small block tops a sturdy aluminum casting with lightweight heads, coil-near-plug ignition and aluminum flat top pistons to mix razor-sharp throttle response with a torque band that’s as wide as Texas. At the front of the stalwart mill, a modern serpentine system spins a fresh alternator and snazzy March power steering pump below a polished air tube that’s piped to a remote Spectre filter. Once air enters that filter, it flows from an “LS1” branded throttle body to a bright Magnuson intake that’s bolted down over a .630 lift Comp cam. High octane fossils are provided by GM electronic fuel injection. Sparks are sequenced through blue Taylor Spiro Pro plug wires. Spent gases are whisked away by a slick pair of jet-hot coated shorties. And cooling comes courtesy of a big Griffin radiator that’s wired to both an electric coolant pump and quick-spinning electric puller fan. Aesthetically, the car’s smooth, Electric Blue engine bay combines with the LS1’s Electric Blue casting to virtually ooze custom appeal. Niceties such as polished fender braces, a polished Wilwood master cylinder, silver, “CAMARO” branded valve covers and high quality EMS hood supports add just the right amount of flash to make people stop and take notice. And, with one push of this Chevy’s keyless ignition, the small block rolls into a buttery, muscle-bound idle that, through its distinctive rumble, foretells the car’s true, high performance nature. When that rumble spins into an all-out roar, a beefy Z06 clutch engages a rugged T56 6-speed. That tough transmission twists torque to a FAB 9 rear end that spins a Truetrac differential around beefy, 31-spline axles and big, 4.10 gears. That world class drivetrain rides behind a Chassisworks G Machine subframe that sandwiches a thick sway bar between tubular control arms, Ride Tech ShockWaves and power rack and pinion steering. Opposite that subframe, a Chassisworks Billet g-Link hangs a splined sway bar between custom spindles, two more Ride Tech ShockWaves and Detroit Speed mini tubs. That tight suspension rides inside Baer 6-piston calipers that utilize drilled and slotted rotors to provide serious handling prowess and first rate stopping ability. Exhaust flows from the aforementioned headers into stainless, true-dual pipes that breathe through welded, dual-chamber mufflers. Power hits the pavement via 3-piece Intro ID Magnas, which spin 225/35ZR19 Continental Extreme Contact radials in front of 325/25ZR20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport radials. And the car’s clean, Electric Blue floors, which have been restored to better-than-new condition, hang fresh stainless fluid lines, polished ARP hardware and a Rick''s stainless fuel tank in front of an electronic, flip-down tag bracket. Open this Camaro’s shaved doors and you’ll find a comfortable tan interior that’s built around firm Recaro buckets and a nice blend of modern style and modern convenience. At the front of the car, a custom fiberglass dash hangs billet-trimmed Auto Meter Cobalt gauges between an oval mirror, billet accessory knobs and a touchscreen Eclipse sound system. Below that dash, a custom, full length console, which features integrated courtesy lamps, centers a sculpted shifter between billet power window switches and controls car’s Ride Tech suspension system. Below that console, high quality carpet centers color-keyed floor mats between billet foot pedals and “Fisher” branded sill plates. At the sides of that carpet, sculpted door panels hang meaty Alpine speakers between modern handles and long armrests. In front of the driver, a billet steering wheel spins a half-wrapped rim around a tilting Ididit column. And behind the passengers, a custom upholstered trunk centers a color-keyed JBL Grand Touring amplifier between great sounding Kicker subwoofers. This awesome pro-tourer is one of the market’s best combinations of performance and style. The car looks absolutely predatory, and will attract a TON of attention wherever it goes. With a supercharged LS1 under the hood, and a whole roster of top-notch equipment that’s already spec-d and seamlessly bolted together, it’s a one way ticket to instant gratification. And as a fast, fun and extremely stylish classic, it’s the perfect ride for any old school muscle car fan!
