Have you priced new pickup trucks today? Why buy some anonymous pickup when you could have this stylish 1986 Ford F150 with V8 power, a work-ready bed, and lots of options for a fraction of the cost? Plus you can take this truck to the local cruise night and they won''t look at you like you''re trying to park your tow vehicle. The very cool black and red paint scheme is original, and like many vehicles of the 1980s, nostalgia is a big part of its appeal. This isn''t a show truck, but it is really, really nicely preserved from an era before trucks became mere fashion statements. These F150s were insanely popular with the motoring public, and the squared-off look remains iconic today. Thanks to appropriate care over the years, the body was quite well-preserved, but this hauler received a fresh repaint last year, and it looks great. There''s also plenty of trim, including stainless body moldings and original bumpers that still wear factory chrome. The bed looks like it''s done its share of work, but that only means that it''s ready to help you out next Saturday when you need a load of dirt or a few pieces of drywall for your next project. The bright red and black interior is far flashier than you''d expect from a working-class pickup like this, but you can''t argue with the impact it makes. The seat shows very little wear and it''s hard to believe this truck is coming up on 30 years old just by looking at the upholstery. The door panels have a bit of use and a little depression from where a drier would rest his elbow, but again this isn''t a show truck but a great daily driver. Accessories include power windows and locks, A/C, cruise control, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo for entertainment. Lots of fake burled walnut trim looks, well, fake, but it does warm up the interior and it''s all part of the charm. A black carpet dash pad protects it from the effects of the sun, since this truck comes from a warm climate, and a sliding rear window provides pleasant ventilation on those days when it''s just not quite hot enough for the A/C. Ford''s venerable 302 cubic inch V8 was pressed into duty for the F150, and it wears a distinctive long-runner intake that''s tuned for torque instead of horsepower like the Mustang. Nevertheless, is moves the F150 with ease and sounds quite familiar. Many of the usual bolt-ons will work here, too, but this truck appears to be almost entirely stock, which is good news for reliability and its simplicity makes it easy to service. Backed by an automatic transmission and the original rear end, it''s actually a decent highway cruiser that rides well and pulls down decent fuel economy (well, for a truck, anyway). The underside is a bit crusty, but all the factory hardware is there and in good shape, and there''s a recent single exhaust system with a performance muffler that sounds great. New aluminum wheels give it an updated look in the rolling stock department, and those aluminum hoops were wrapped in 235/75/15 blackwall radials that fill the wheel arches properly. Just a nice old truck with a great look, V8 power, and a low price. Put it to work, have fun on weekends, or just relive a memory from your past, this F150 is always up for the job. Call today!
