This 1959 Ford F-100 pickup is one of those vehicles that you glance at and think, "Nice truck," to yourself, then double back to make sure what you''ve seen is real. In truth, it''s a lot nicer than it looks at first glance, with great paint and a few clever upgrades to make it a bit more functional in today''s world. The steely blue paint is so subtle you''ll find yourself looking at it and commenting that it''s really nice, but it takes a second glance for the high-gloss surface to really hit you. That''s the great thing about this truck is that the quality shows everywhere, from the straight bodywork and lovely rounded stepside fenders to the attention to detail in the smallest parts. Note the crisp line that slashes from the headlights to the back of the cab, neatly aligned so it''s unbroken. The ''59 Fords were Ford''s first response to Chevy''s beautiful Cameo pickup, and they do have a rugged style and the big, bold grille and hood treatment make no bones that this is a FORD truck. Bright chrome bumpers and a beautifully finished wood bed are, of course, standard features on today''s restored trucks, but details like the HID headlights and LED taillights are welcome upgrades that add safety as well as style. The interior is still the same basic goodness that it was in 1959, albeit all-new. The seat cover has a distressed look that makes it almost look like leather and with contrasting white piping, it has a nicely upscale vibe. Carpets on the floor certainly help with that and the embroidered floor mats feature Ford logos. That is the original steering wheel, but it has been professionally wrapped in leather, so it looks like the factory did it, not one of those auto parts store wrap jobs. The bright metal instrument panel features an original speedometer in the center with Sunpro auxiliary gauges installed at the outboard positions. Turn signals have been added, and it''s kind of strange to think that even in 1959, they weren''t yet standard equipment. A later AM/FM radio lives in the dash with a speaker hanging underneath, right next to the optional (yes, optional!) heater/defroster unit. And as you can tell from the headlight, taillight, and turn signal upgrades, safety was important to the guy who built this truck, so it also features shoulder belts for both front seat passengers. Ford''s 292 cubic inch "Y-block" V8 was used throughout the company''s products, and in this handsome pickup, it provides energetic motivation. Instantly recognizable thanks to its wrap around exhaust manifolds, it appears quite stock under the hood. The factory air cleaner lives atop a rebuilt carburetor and it appears that much of the wiring is new. It''s backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission, which was probably a welcome addition to the options list on pickup trucks, and there''s a rugged 9-inch rear end out back. The underside is in good order, although not detailed for show, and the single exhaust system is recent. Painted steel wheels get accessory trim rings and chrome hubcaps, along with a set of flashy 6.0-16 wide whites that look period-perfect. Like I said, this is a truck that invites second and third glances. Spend some time looking over the photos and you''ll come away impressed with it, too. Call today!
