Some of you might be looking at the price tag on this stunning 1969 Camaro SS396 convertible and wondering how you''ll get it into your garage ASAP. Given how impressive this car is in every possible way (L34, 4-speed, matching-numbers, etc.), I would strongly encourage you to beg, borrow, or steal enough to make it yours, because cars like this just don''t come along all that often. Treated to a no-holds-barred rotisserie restoration, this investment-grade Camaro has been driven just over 500 miles since it was completed. It is superbly finished and exact in the smallest details, with all the work designed to collect trophies at the biggest shows in the country. Refinished in its original code 71 Lemans Blue with a white "hockey stick" stripe, this is pretty much how this car looked rolling out of the showroom in 1969... except it wasn''t this nice even when it was new. The bodywork is spectacular, with exacting alignment between the panels, highlighted by the crease that runs down the flanks and the two-stage urethane paint has an impossibly rich shine. This is unquestionably a real SS, so all the correct SS emblems and badges were installed and as a big block car, the tail panel is blacked out so everyone knows what just cleaned their clocks. Chrome, stainless, lenses, and glass are all fully restored to show standards, making the car sparkle, even up close. The white interior is correctly restored to the same very high standards and shows virtually zero signs of use since it was completed. The reproduction seat covers have greater detail and depth to the pleats than some of the cheaper stuff, and when combined with the new-for-1969 head rests, give the seats a sporty look. New white door panels and fresh black carpets provide a wonderful contrast (can you imagine trying to keep white carpets clean in a car?), and the woodgrained center console warms things up a bit. The factory tach and auxiliary gauges were actually separate options but remain quite desirable today, especially with that chrome 4-speed shifter in the center console. The AM radio in the dash is the one that was there in 1969, and yes, this is a factory A/C optioned car, a very rare option in a big block convertible. The white convertible top is as neatly finished and brilliant as the upholstery, and the trunk is properly finished with a reproduction mat, correct spare tire, and jack assembly. That is indeed the original, numbers-matching L34 396 cubic inch V8 under the hood. Fully rebuilt and detailed for show, it cackles with 350 robust horsepower. With bright chrome details and a Chevy Orange block, it looks fantastic and you''ll note that the engine bay does not have that over-detailed look that so many cars get when their owners hose them down with Armor-All. Instead, it looks quite authentic, with reproduction hoses and clamps, proper decals, and correct finishes throughout. The 4-speed transmission feeds a set of highway-friendly 3.08 gears in the 12-bolt rear, and thanks to the rotisserie restoration, the underside is as nicely restored as the top. A correct transverse muffler gives it that muted big block burble and classic Rally wheels with reproduction F70-14 Goodyear Polyglas tires will earn you those extra points in competition. This is unquestionably an investment-grade Camaro that hits all the right notes, and it''s fully documented with restoration receipts, photos, and original owner''s manual. Call today!
