You''ve been promising yourself that you''d get around to building that Camaro you always wanted, why not simply buy a finished one that''s already done just the way you want it? This 1969 SS looks nasty in black, carries your favorite houndstooth interior, as well as a sweet-running small block and manual transmission. Why wait? This is one of those rare Camaros that''s actually still wearing its correct factory color, which is code 10 Tuxedo Black. Obviously it''s not original paint, because nothing that''s 45 years old could possibly look as good as the miles-deep urethane this car wears today. Prep and final finish are quite good, but not so perfect you''ll be afraid to drive it. Few cars look better in black than a first-generation Camaro, and they didn''t do much to change the already awesome factory look. That means an original-style hood with chrome inserts, a subtle chin spoiler, and, of course, the famous ducktail spoiler out back. Conspicuously absent are the requisite SS stripes, giving this Camaro a bit of a sleeper look that''s quite appealing. The blacked-out SS grille works with the overall color scheme and the front bumper has been painted to match the body, a simple mod that makes a HUGE difference in the overall look. The rest of the stainless and chrome trim is in excellent shape, glittering against the black bodywork. This car keeps things pretty stock inside, too, with beautiful bucket seats wearing reproduction houndstooth upholstery. One of GM''s better ideas, the stylish cloth inserts look both upscale and sporty ta the same time, particularly with factory headrests on the seats. No drastic changes or even the usual upgrades, as it was important to keep this car authentic during the build, so there''s no center console, although a T-handle shifter now controls the gears. This car came with factory A/C, which is now powered by modern components and R134a refrigerant, so it''s effective and efficient. The front seats show some minor signs of use, but the back seat looks completely unused and the carpets are in excellent condition all around. A newer AM/FM stereo radio has been installed, but it fits right and uses stock-style buttons for an authentic look. The trunks'' been restored, too, including a snug-fitting reproduction mat. The 350 cubic inch V8 is what every SS wanted to have when it grew up. Not quite stock, it still looks right under the hood with its bright Chevy Orange paint. Black details are a great contrast to the usual chrome dress-up, including the air cleaner and valve covers, and it ties together quite nicely with the bodywork. Almost everything under the hood is either new or restored, and with a chrome EPS intake, there''s just a bit of glitter that makes it stand out. Note reproduction hoses and clamps, which helps give it a genuine look, and the upgraded ignition system to light the fires. A Muncie M21 4-speed manual drives a 10-bolt rear and long-tube headers feed a dual exhaust system with correct transverse muffler. Corvette Rally wheels are fitted and wear 235/60/15 BFG radials for a timeless muscle car look. Clean, straight, streetable Camaros don''t come much better than this.
