1953 Kaiser Dragon Vin: K530001105 - 226.2-cid, 118-hp inline six-cylinder engine - Automatic transmission - Original Bambu vinyl interior - Only 1,277 Dragon''s produced in 1953 - Believed to be one of only seven produced in this color combo - 14-carat gold-plated exterior trim and glovebox nameplate - Dual spotlights - Four-door sedan bodystyle only - Most luxurious Kaiser built - Texas car Take a seat with the 1953 Kaiser Dragon and feel the history that few have had the pleasure to experience. Kaiser Motors (formerly Kaiser-Frazer) Corporation made autos in Willow Run, Mich., from 1945 to 1953. Kaiser eventually merged with Willys-Overland to form Willys Motors Inc. in 1953. This merger moved production operations to the Willys plant in Toledo, Ohio. The company underwent one last name change in 1963, becoming the Kasier Jeep Corporation. On Halloween night 1952, the newest model for Kaiser Motors was introduced - the 1953 Kaiser Dragon. Only about 1,300 of the 1953 model were sold. When new, this vehicle cost more than a Cadillac Series 62 sedan. Standards on the 1953 Dragon were its heater, clock and radio. This was the most luxurious Dragon model built. It came standard with a 14-carat gold plated hood and fender nameplates, a vinyl top resembling bamboo, interior trim, plus power steering and padding in the glove box. Since then, Kaiser cars have developed a cult following. The highlight of the Michigan-made 1953 Kaiser Dragon is the original factory interior. The green-on-green bamboo trim (code #5311) has been the same since Day 1. The look and feel of interior gives the car its Dragon moniker. This vinyl upholstery cannot be replaced; no after-factory suppliers make this mean, smooth green style, so the seats are one of a kind. MotoeXotica searched for this mythical creature, and the effort was fruitful. We got our hands on our own 1953 Kaiser "Puff the Magic" Dragon. Its originality doesn''t stop at the unique seats. The dash and gauges are also original for the model. The only downside to this baby-boomer era beauty is some slight wear in the rear package tray - but that tray is also a 1953 original. The horn is the only item we found inoperable. The car is an automatic transmission. The engine is a 226.2-cid, 118 hp inline six cylinder. This engine is covered by a hood with its own Kaiser hood ornament, standard for the model. We acquired the auto from Texas where the two previous owners kept the car in its original condition. The previous owners were Sterling Toyota of Houston Texas. Then ownership passed to Texas billionaire attorney John O'' Quinn who met an untimely death. After falling in love with the interior, get to know the special exterior. The 106 Ivory Stardust body color with green bambu top is believed to be only one of seven produced, making the color combination we have in stock even rarer. Also on the exterior of this Dragon is the period-correct 7.10-15-in wide white wall tires mounted on shiny chrome wheels. The car was only made in a four-door sedan body style. The excellent shape chrome trim and body brightwork will shine as you drive it in the afternoon sun. The emblems are intact and in great shape, so let your family and friends know you ride a Dragon. Keep an eye on the past as you drive into your future with your very own piece of history - the 1953 Kaiser Dragon. GET OUT AND DRIVE!
