We were lucky enough to be offered this lovely one-owner car which had just come out of 20 years storage. This helps to explain the amazingly low mileage. We then commenced an £8,000 re-commissioning process. After renewing the brakes and hydraulics, we removed and dismantled the engine for inspection. Corrosion on the bores warranted a re-bore and new pistons. Bearings, seals, oil pump, timing chains, fuel pump and core plugs were renewed, and the valves and seats were re-finished. A new exhaust was fitted and all fluids changed. The result is that the bits that you can’t see now match the condition of the bits that you can! The interior is as good as you would imagine. The car drives as pleasureably as you would expect of such a low-mileage example. If you want to know what a nearly new XJ6 was like to drive, this one has that feel.
