If you''re looking to play in the big leagues, this phenomenal 1957 Chevy Bel Air convertible is your ticket. Even at this price, someone''s losing a ton of money on the build, and with multiple magazine appearances and big trophies to its credit, it''s the kind of car that that stops even the most jaded car show fan in his tracks. National award-winning cars stand out. Sure, the PPG Torch Red paint is sizzling, but it''s really the details and craftsmanship that wins the big trophies. Looking at this ''57, you''ll discover that someone spent several weeks getting the body panels to line up exactly, smoothing the surface so that the transition from one piece to the next is seamless, and to eliminate any waves or ripples in the final product. We don''t like using words like perfect and flawless but some cars come closer than others, and this is one of them. All the Bel Air details remain, so it has a stock look enhanced primarily by its stance, and you can bet that the bill for all the brightwork was about the size of a college education. Of note, that''s a California 1-piece front bumper (good luck finding another one of those!), and all the gold anodized parts have been polished to a high shine. There''s more bright red inside, where old and new are subtly blended in such an expert way that it''s hard to discern where the original gear stops and the new stuff starts. Those seats are from a 1975 Chrysler New Yorker, but they look so right in the Bel Air body, plus the rear bench that has been upholstered to match, well, it''s easy to forget that''s not how they looked originally. The gauges are restored and connected to the new ZZ4 crate motor, and the factory A/C vents are fed by a powerful modern A/C system from Vintage Air. An Ididit tilt column wears a billet wheel with more matching red leather. Entertainment comes via an AM/FM/cassette stereo with a CD changer hidden in the beautifully upholstered trunk. And no worries, because the white convertible top is power actuated and folds effortlessly with the touch of a button. As I mentioned, the engine is a crate ZZ4, but they did more than take it out of the box and throw it in. The block was smoothed and painted to match the body, then topped with polished aluminum heads. In fact, just about everything under the hood has been polished, chromed, or painted and the effect is dizzying. You just aren''t sure where to look first. A serpentine belt system, custom aluminum radiator, and modern master cylinder powering 4-wheel disc brakes are all smart upgrades for reliability, and the TH350 3-speed automatic makes for easy cruising. The suspension features polished stainless A-arms, power rack-and-pinion steering, and it''s clear that they spent as much time finishing the bottom of the car as they did up top. 17-inch billet Talladega wheels look right and wear right-sized 225/55/17 Goodyear radials. Yeah, it really is as nice as it looks, and if you''re serious about owning the best, you''ll have a hard time topping this Bel Air. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
