Description:

The tri-five Chevy crowd is becoming increasingly saturated with pro-touring restorations. The historic bodies combined with modern internals make for one incredible ride. But how do you stand out in the tri-five crowd when so many builds are so closely the same? Easy… Choose a ’56 Bel Air Nomad and make it one wild machine. Which is exactly what we have sitting in front of us today. This Bel Air Nomad might have had humble beginnings, but now sits as proof of what an immaculate pro-touring build on a Nomad can end up looking like. This ’56 Nomad has featured a very extensive build and is capable of not only winning show awards, but also setting a blistering fast time on the auto-cross course. You would never know it just by glancing at the pristine body, but below the long wagon’s body is a modern 400+ horsepower power plant, upgraded suspension, and a luxurious interior. The 1956 Nomad features styling that is still as desirable today as it was when it left the Chevy factory. The body is covered in a dark shade of red and is accented by a black accent line that starts at the front fenders and grows larger at the quarter panels. The red and black paint scheme is separated by perfect wide chrome trim. At the front of the body, a massive chrome bumper stretches the width of the body, just below the stainless grille. Running lights are found on either side of the grille, while the famous Chevrolet crest and V are found above it. At the top of the hood a chrome ‘jetbird’ leads the center accent line on the hood. Down the sides the body the lines are flawless. At the back you’ll find a small Nomad emblem above the chrome tailgate spears. Below the tailgate is another body-width chrome bumper that sits just above the chrome dual exhausts that finish off the look of the Nomad. This Nomad may have left the factory with a 265ci V8, but today is filled with plenty of horsepower thanks to a near bulletproof 430hp LS3 that sits under the hood. Lift the hood and you’ll see the legendary Chevrolet powerplant that has been equipped with a custom dual air intake, and a custom fuel-rail cover that matches the red and black you’ll find on the body. The LS3 has proven over the years that it is a very capable drivetrain ensuring many years of reliable starts and enjoyment for this Nomad. In front of the engine is a massive aluminum radiator and an aluminum oil cooler equipped with electric fans that have been tasked with keeping the LS3 operating at a safe temperature. Underneath this wild Nomad might be the most impressive feature of this entire Nomad. Put the Nomad on the lift and you would swear you were staring at a pro-touring Camaro or a modern Corvette. It starts with an aftermarket Paul Newman Chassis that is painted in a flat black. The chassis allows for four-wheel independent suspension to provide incredible handling. Under the Nomad you’ll also see that bolted to the LS3 is a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission. Spent gasses travel out Ceramic coated headers and enter dual exhausts equipped with an x-pipe before they travel through Dynomax mufflers and exit out the back of the wagon. Stopping power comes courtesy of Corvette C5 4-wheel power disc brakes. In front of those brakes you’ll find new 17” custom Boyd Coddington rims that have been wrapped in Goodyear rubber. The tri-five Nomad continues to impress when you open the doors. Pop open the door and you’ll reveal a custom leather interior that makes this wagon a great place to log miles from. Two extremely comfortable red leather bench seats greet the passengers. In front of the 3-way adjustable front power bench seat is a three-spoke red steering wheel that bares the famous bow-tie of Chevrolet. Beyond the steering wheel is a red dash with a Classic Instruments instrument panel. Below the red dash are the controls for the Vintage Air setup that blows ice cold air from under the dash. Between the driver and passenger is the center dash console that reveals the controls for the upgraded Sony sound system. Nomad badging sits on the right side of the dash along with an analog clock. Behind the driver is another row of bench seating, and beyond that a massive storage area. On the floor is vibrant red carpeting that has matching floor mats. One of the reasons why we choose cars is not to get from point to point, heck any car could do that. Rather, these cars become an extension of our personality. Thanks to a very extensive pro-touring style build, this Nomad has given the current owners plenty of memories, and is ready to provide new memories for the next owner. This Nomad not only ready to grab local car show awards, but can also back up its credentials on the black top. Don’t miss your chance to own this 1956 Nomad, stop by our showroom for a closer inspection of this wagon, you won’t be disappointed.
