We''ve all seen the monster trucks doing their thing, but driving one on the street just isn''t practical. But if you''ve always dreamed of such a thing, then perhaps this 1987 Chevy K10 4x4 will be the perfect substitute. Ridiculously over-built with screaming Viper Red paint, it sure ain''t subtle but if there''s such thing as a party on wheels, this is most certainly it. This bruiser is built on a long bed/regular cab chassis, probably the ideal combination for such a thing: not so long that the frame gets flexible but big enough to carry the oversized tires without looking like a toy. The sizzling red paint is only a few months old and the sheetmetal underneath is in great shape, and since this is a fresh build, it hasn''t been bashed off road or twisted climbing over rocks. Instead, someone spent a pile of money big to get it show-stoppingly gorgeous, including a cowl-induction hood (not that you can see it from ground level), a visor, and quality prep that makes the paint truly shine. The rest of the bodywork appears to be stock, which is proof that these trucks have aged well, and even the squared-off wheel wells accommodate those massive tires without being stretched or altered. Chrome bumpers, plenty of diamond plate protecting the bed, and step plates add some sparkle and functionality; with a spray-in bedliner, this sucker can still carry anything you can load into the bed. For such a massive machine, the interior is remarkably stock. The factory bench seat comes with a newer cloth seat cover, but the original gray vinyl underneath is also surprisingly presentable. Reproduction door panels match nicely with original equipment and the factory dash is still full of OEM gauges. During the transformation, however, the original transmission was yanked in favor of a beefy 4-speed with an ultra-low first gear to get those big meats spinning and no fear of breakage. Factory A/C is still on the menu, now with a modern system behind it and R134a refrigerant inside, and there''s a set of Sunpro auxiliary gauges hanging under the dash to keep an eye on the engine up front. An AM/FM/CD stereo provides entertainment (as if you''ll need it) and with tinted windows, at least you can keep a low profile, even if your truck can''t. The engine is a 409-inch small block built by Gabriel''s Racing and designed to move this big truck without straining itself. Thanks to an .060 overbore, it makes big torque and wonderful race-grade sounds, and you should probably bring a scaffolding with you to shows so you can open the hood and let folks see the wonderful workmanship inside. Plenty of chrome, color-matched red components and wiring, plus plenty of attention to getting the little stuff right means that the show-quality engine bay stands out on an already impressive package. A Zoom heavy-duty clutch hooks up the power and a 2-speed transfer case delivers it to the heavy-duty front and rear axles (10-bolt up front, 3/4 ton HD out back). Obviously there''s a custom suspension, all-new hydraulics, and thanks to modern tire technology, even something like this can roll on 20s, in this case a set of chrome Moto Metal wheels with Continental military tires. The great thing is that this thing drives like any other truck. Just be careful not to crush any of the other cars parked nearby. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
