If you''ve been waiting for just the right Chevelle to come along, perhaps this 1972 SS tribute will whet your appetite. Long-time readers know how much I like yellow cars, and this one offers a gorgeous (and correct) Cream yellow paint job, and sporty bench seat interior. This one deserves your full attention. One glance at the miles-deep paint job and it''s obvious that someone spent a pretty big pile of money getting this one into its current condition. The lovely yellow paint is smooth enough to use as a mirror, and it has just the right look: not too bright like canary yellow, but not faded-looking like the old Butternut. SS stripes and a cowl-induction hood with hood pins were added at the same time, and I personally like how it ties together so well with the interior. There''s also a beautiful brand new black vinyl top that uses the correct material and shows no evidence of rust underneath, critical with any padded roof. Fresh SS emblems were used on the front fenders and rear bumper, along with a blacked-out SS grille up front so it certainly looks the part. And speaking of bumpers, both the front and rear units are bright, shiny, as is the rest of the stainless trim on the car. That beautiful black interior is a wonderful companion to the black stripes, and it''s a great place to spend some time this weekend. Materials and patterns are just how the factory did it 40 years ago, with virtually zero signs of use. The front buckets offer a commanding driving position and the back seat looks completely untouched and brand new. Fresh black carpets anchor the whole interior, giving it a cool monochromatic look, and the black dashboard ties it together perfectly. There''s cold A/C that uses R134a so it''s easy to service and the gauges look great with bright markings and clear lenses. For entertainment, there''s an AM/FM/cassette stereo in the dash, and they chose it because it looks like it was born there. The trunk is nicely finished, including a factory-style mat and a full-sized spare on a matching Torque Thrust wheel. The torquey 350 cubic inch Ram-Jet V8 was dropped between the fender wells to deliver improved performance and drivability over the original carbureted hunk. That big intake manifold makes the Ram Jet easy to identify, and it''s a real joy to see functioning EFI on a car like this where so many guys simply throw a 4-barrel on and call it done. The result is a car that starts instantly, idles perfectly from the start, and pulls like a freight train. It also lends a highly-detailed look. New components are everywhere, from the master cylinder to the belts and hoses, so it''s as reliable as it is good-looking. It''s backed by a 700R4 4-speed automatic and a 12-bolt rear hanging on the original suspension. There''s also a gorgeous set of long-tube headers and a pair of Flowmasters that have enough of a rumble to match the car''s looks, but it doesn''t get annoying on long highway drives. The floors are solid, which comes from years of clean living down south, and charcoal gray Torque-Thrust wheels give it a hot-rod look that fits its personality perfectly. A little out of the ordinary and certainly an impressive driver, this Chevelle is the car of choice for guys who dig yellow. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
