Description:

1969 Plymouth Road Runner   History   The Plymouth Road Runner was a performance car built by the Plymouth division of the Chrysler Corporation in the United States between 1968 and 1980. In 1968, the first muscle cars were moving away from their roots as relatively cheap, fast cars as they gained options. Although Plymouth already had a performance car in the GTX, designers decided to go back to the drawing board and reincarnate the original muscle car concept. Plymouth wanted a car able to run 14-second times in the quarter mile and sell for less than $3000. Both goals were met, and the low-cost muscle car hit the street.   The 1969 model kept the same basic look as the 1968 but with some slight changes such as tail lights and grille, side marker lights, optional bucket seats, and new Road Runner decals. In 1969 the 383ci engine was the standard powerplant, and the 426ci Hemi was the only engine option available for the Road Runner until mid year production. The 440 cubic inch engine option with three Holley 2 barrel carburetors was added to the lineup at mid-year. The Plymouth Road Runner was named Motor Trend "Car of the Year" for 1969.     VIN RM21H9G228744   This beautiful Mopar was owned by the previous owner for about a year. The restoration was completed 5-6 years ago. The previous owner told us that there are only roughly 200 miles on the motor since it was built.   Installation instructions for various aftermarket parts are included in the sale. Original Air Grabber set up and air cleaner is included in the sale.     Mechanics   440ci Engine, Stroked to 500ci/650hp   Indy Aluminum 440EZ1 Heads   Indy Aluminum Intake   Numbers Matching 4-Speed Manual Transmission   Explosion Proof Lakewood Bell Housing   Chrysler 3:91 Sure-Grip Rear End   Power Steering   Rebuilt Steering Gear   Manual 4 Wheel Disc Brakes   MSD Electronic Ignition   Jet Coated Big Tube Hooker Headers   New Flowmaster Exhaust System with Stainless Tips   Road Runner “Meep-Meep” Horn   Mopar Performance Valve Covers   Holley Carb, Dual Feed   Billet Pulleys   Chrome Alternator   New 3/8” Fuel Line   New Rear Springs   Brand New Front and Rear KYB Shocks   Front and Rear Sway Bars Look Great   Brand New Gas Tank with New Straps     Body   Beautiful Yellow and Black Paint   Professionally Painted in 2008, Base Coat/Clear Coat   Gorgeous Chrome Bumpers   Beautiful Grille   Stainless Trim is Beautiful   New Rear Quarters are Straight and Solid   Professional Body Work   Post Car to Support Extra Horsepower   Antenna   Doors Fit and Operate Properly   Door Lips and Jambs are Clean and Solid   Frame is Solid and Clean Inside   Clean Undercarriage with Factory Undercoating   Rockers are Solid   Trunk is Painted Body Color   Gorgeous Billet Aluminum Wheels   Dunlop Tires - 225/70/15 Front, 255/60/15 Rear     Interior   New Interior in 2008   New Vinyl Bench Seats   Hurst 4 Speed Shifter on the Floor   Grant Steering Wheel   AutoMeter Gauge Cluster   Column Mounted Tachometer with Shift Light   JVC CD Player   Beautiful Dash   New Door Skins   New Headliner with Working Dome Light   New Carpet   Road Runner Floor Mats   Seat Belts Front and Back       VIN Decoding:   RM21H9G228744 RM21 - Plymouth Road Runner Coupe H - 383 cu. in. 1-4BBL HP 9 - 1969 G - St. Louis, MO Assembly Plant 228744 - Sequence number   Fender Tag Decoding:   Row 1: E63 = 383 cu. in. 1-4BBL HP D21 = 4-Speed Manual Transmission RM21 - Plymouth Road Runner Coupe H - 383 cu. in. 1-4BBL HP 9 - 1969 G - St. Louis, MO Assembly Plant 228744 - Sequence number   Row 2: 99 = Special Order Body Color (Looks to have been Bahama Yellow or Butterscotch) 99 = Special Order Roof Color H2X = High Trim Grade Vinyl Bench Black X9 = Black Upper Door Frame 307 = March 7, 1969 Scheduled Production Date 292064 = Vehicle Order Number   Row 3: A31 = High Performance Axle Package (3.91 Axle Ratio w/8.75" HD Axle, Sure Grip, Maximum Cooling, 7-Blade Torque Drive Fan & HEMI Suspension) A87 = Road Runner Decor Group (Vinyl Trim, Rear Arm Rests with Ashtray, B-Pillar Molding, Exhaust Tips, Partial Horn Ring Steering Wheel, Bright Door Trim Panel Moldings & Bright Armrest Bases) J25 = 3 Speed Windshield Wipers M21 = Drip Rail Moldings N96 = Carb Fresh Air Package-Metal Hood R22 = AM Radio 8-Track Player   Row 4: V21 = Hood Performance Treatment Y39 = Special Order Car 26 = 26" Radiator END   Engine: 500ci. Our inventory is always stored indoors! We have a brand new, state-of-the-art, 30,000 square foot facility that is open to the public. We would love for you to stop by and see us! We are located 20 minutes away from Detroit Metro Airport, and would be happy to pick you up and drop you off if you fly in. New cars arrive daily, and our inventory is always changing. Vanguard Motor Sales owns all of our inventory, we are not a consignment dealership. You are dealing directly with the owner of the vehicle, not a middle man. All of our vehicle titles are free of liens, and we are not selling other peoples problems. Every car we purchase is of the utmost quality. Our mission is to exceed your expectations! If you are interested in this car, or any of our other 100+ cars, don’t wait for the auction to end on eBay. You may loose out if you wait! Our shop is open to the public, and when a walk in customer puts a deposit on a car we reserve the right to close the eBay listing before the auction ends. If you think this car is “The One”, we can end the auction by adding a “But It Now” to the auction for the reserve price. If an auction ends and the bids do not meet the reserve price, we will continue to relist it until it sells. Do not hesitate to contact Tom 7 days a week! We take over 100 photographs of the car, as well as a high definition video, so you know exactly what to expect. We encourage you to hire an independent inspector to check out the car, prior to purchase or bidding. We have a hoist available for views of the undercarriage, and our mechanics are available to speak with if you have any questions. Vanguard Motor Sales has sold classic and muscle cars to customers in The United States, Canada, Australia, The United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, France, Norway, The Netherlands and many other countries. We are experts in over seas shipping, and handle all of the details. The shipping companies we work with are insured, so your vehicle will be safe and secure during transport. We ship all of our vehicles enclosed, so they leave our shop clean and they are delivered to your driveway clean. We''ve built our reputation on selling high quality cars honestly and fairly. We have up-front, no haggle pricing! Call Tom today, and let Vanguard Motor Sales park your dream in your driveway! 248-974-9513 We make every effort to represent this vehicle as accurately as possible and to the best of knowledge at the time of listing.
