Please contact us for more information.Conceived and built for just one purpose – to homologate Ford’s wildly successful Mustang for SCCA road-racing competition – Carroll Shelby’s original GT350 exemplified Ford’s “Total Performance” ethos and conferred an unbeatable high-performance image on the trendsetting new “ponycar.” On the track, the GT350 utterly dominated the opposition, particularly archrival Chevrolet’s Corvette, to secure three straight SCCA B-Production racing championships in 1965, 1966, and 1967.Barely civilized for street use, the GT350 was as close as you could get to a full-on competition car from the dealer showroom, complete with its tweaked 289 “Hi-Po” V-8, Toploader 4-speed manual transmission, high-effort competition brakes, cop-baiting exhaust, and squealing rear tires at the mercy of the Detroit Locker rear-end assembly. Several revisions for 1966 successfully maintained the basic character and performance of the GT350 while making it somewhat less demanding on its drivers and passengers. While the GT350 continued to be offered through the 1970 model year, it is the definitive first-generation cars that established the legend and continue to thrill today’s Mustang enthusiasts. Production was always miniscule, driving stiff demand today for excellent recreations such as the GT350 Tribute offered here, featuring far better performance, durability, and build quality than the originals from the 1960s. Handsomely presented with a full rotisserie restoration and bare-metal refinish performed by Carmichael of Prescott, Arizona, this exceptional GT350 recreation is further enhanced with a custom side-exit exhaust system passing through each rocker panel to maintain the car’s ground clearance. Riding on a Ron Morrison front-suspension system, the Mustang is further equipped with precise rack-and-pinion steering by Randal’s, while the rear suspension is highly upgraded with Maier Racing springs, sway bar, Panhard rod, and shock absorbers. Baer Racing disc brakes with dual master cylinders provide sure stops, and the brake lines, fuel lines, and fuel tank are all made of stainless steel. Power is provided by a fully balanced and blueprinted 331 “Windsor” V-8 professionally built by Coast High Performance and complete with aluminum cylinder heads with stainless steel valves, a roller valvetrain, forged pistons, and a professionally tuned mass flow fuel-injection system. A Tremec TKO 5-speed manual transmission unleashes the engine’s performance potential and a Moser 9-inch limited-slip rear-end with 3.50:1 gears delivers a dyno-proven 360 hp to the rear wheels. An electric cooling fan and all-new wiring harness enhance reliability, while vital functions are monitored by a set of custom gauges. The custom interior and killer stereo were handled by Unique Audio and in addition to air conditioning and power steering, the Mustang is graced by Carroll Shelby’s famous signature on the dash. A top-quality build with thousands of hours invested in the process, this outstanding Mustang provides excellent performance, ride, and handling. Properly garaged and only taken to shows, it demands serious consideration from hard-core Mustang enthusiasts.
