This 1964 Impala is a perfect example of buying someone else''s finished car to save a fortune. Looking over the list of upgrades and the overall quality of the workmanship, it''s obvious that someone invested a ton of money in this SS, and when they sweat the small stuff you know the rest of the car is excellent. This is not one of those creations that some guy built in his back yard. This is a correct code 14 V8 SS Impala that is just as beautiful in person as it appears in photos. The burgundy paint replicates the factory Palomar Red iridescent finish, which more than lives up to its name with an internal glow that highlights the Imp''s sharp design details. Bodywork is first rate, and that''s critical because the straight bodylines tend to show flaws-look at the photos again and you''ll see what I mean about this one being extremely straight. Add in the expensive machine-turned SS trim, the lovely chrome bumpers, and a beautifully restored grille, and it''s clear that nobody took any shortcuts on this one. Accessories include twin rear antennas and fender skirts, which give it an even sleeker look and serve to visually lower the car, creating an iconic look that has been popular for decades. Fully dressed in correct SS attire, the interior features black buckets, a classic engine-turned center console, and a host of upgrades that make it a pleasure to drive. Everything is new, from the seat covers to the carpets, and you''ll appreciate the efforts taken to preserve the car''s original design. The original gauges still look great tucked away in their own slot in the dash, just above the engine turned panel with controls for wipers, lights, and a period-correct AM/FM radio in the center. There''s also an under-dash A/C system that looks completely appropriate in the vintage Impala and it even uses a correct A6 compressor under the hood to complete the illusion. Power windows are a relatively rare option, but always handy in a convertible and combined with the power convertible top, you can go from enjoying the A/C in a closed car to wide open in the sun at a stop light. The trunk is impressively clean, too, with correct multi-level mats and a full-sized spare tire. The engine bay is no less spectacular, featuring a 327 cubic inch V8 that''s been rebuilt to 300 horsepower specs and detailed to show. An Edelbrock carburetor lives under that stock air cleaner, which wears a bunch of reproduction decals that drive home the factory look. Bright Chevy Orange paint on the block creates a vivid engine bay, and the list of new gear is lengthy, including reproduction hoses and clamps, new alternator, fresh power brake booster and master cylinder, and a bunch of other stuff that ensures this one will always be reliable. A 2-speed PowerGlide handles the gear swaps and feeds the stock Impala rear end, which is flanked by a new exhaust system featuring glasspack mufflers. The entire chassis is clean, albeit not quite as detailed as the more visible areas of the car, and it wears stock 14-inch wheels with SS hubcaps and 205/75/14 whitewall radials. You couldn''t build this car for twice the asking price. Give us a call for all the details, but this is one amazing Impala! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
