Description:

Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale January 15th – 19th, 2014 at Russo and Steele''s 14th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction. Please contact us for more information. This 1968 Fastback started its life in California. It was built in San Jose and it was the 9,612th vehicle built. It spent the next 20+ years in California before moving to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where it resided until late 2002 before coming to Michigan. It was then shipped to Scottrods in Tucson, Arizona in 2009, where it underwent a complete restoration over 13 months. The Mustang retains the original “Black Plate” from Ed Chovanes Ford, and the original windshield, side and rear glass, and all trim items and sheet metal is original. The car is also complete with two build sheets, which were found in the driver’s seat. The Mustang now runs a Holley 670-cfm Avenger atop a 347 cu. in. racing engine further equipped with MSD 6AL ignition and Hooker Super Comp headers. A Griffin aluminum radiator provides cool running and a 2 ½-inch stainless-steel exhaust running through polished stainless-steel glasspacks removes spent gases. Power is transferred through a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed to a Currie 9-inch, 3.70 Posi rear end. Suspension is by Chris Alston''s Chassisworks with tubular upper and lower control arms, coil-over shocks, and strut-bar eliminator, with power rack-and-pinion steering. A G-Link canted 4-bar coil-over rear suspension and brakes are 12-inch Wilwood Dynalite Pro Series cross-drilled and gas-slotted rotors. The interior includes AutoMeter Cobalt gauges, a 1967 Shelby center console, Vintage Air, and an Alpine stereo with custom speaker enclosures.
