Description:

You''ve always wanted a Mustang, but by the time you were old enough to afford one, they were all priced out of reach. Well, guess again, because this bright red 1967 Mustang convertible hits all the right notes with a bargain-basement bottom line. OK, so it''s a six cylinder, but most of them were back in the ''60s. The fire-breathing V8 muscle that we expect today is a legend created by a select few, while a great majority of Mustang buyers were perfectly content to motor around in cars just like this one. With a bright Candyapple Red paint job, which was this car''s original factory color, it sure looks the part of first-class summertime fun, but it hasn''t been over-restored, modified, or converted to some kind of tribute to something it never was in the first place. The bodywork is quite straight, and it sure looks like this car has lived all its life without experiencing the misery of winter weather. The Mustang remains among the most recognizable and popular cars ever made; three-element taillights, the running pony emblems, and a pair of exhaust pipes peeking out from under the rear valence ensure that. You''ll also be pleased to show this one off, because the chrome is good, all the badges are intact, and the grille is excellent, so you need to do exactly nothing to get it ready to cruise. The nicely restored black interior has a few liberties taken, but you''ll appreciate them the moment you put the top down in the sun. The seats wear reproduction covers that were probably installed a few years ago and show a bit of minor wear today, but nothing that''ll discourage you from sliding behind the wheel. The stereo system has been upgraded with an AM/FM/cassette head unit and separate CD player under the dash, plus new speakers throughout, but other than that, the interior is remarkably stock, including some very nice door panels, correctly fitted carpets, and a very handsome 3-spoke steering wheel with leather wrap. Even the six-cylinder models got a pretty complete array of gauges, all of which are in original condition. A newer black convertible top has been fitted and looks great, particularly when stowed under the black boot, and the trunk offers a fitted trunk mat and full-sized spare, in addition to an amplifier for the stereo system. For years, the 200 cubic inch inline-six was the Mustang''s base engine, and with today''s gas prices, perhaps it''s time to re-visit the thrifty pony car. This same engine worked well in Ford trucks, and it''s peppy around town with a nice grumble to the exhaust, which splits into two pipes behind the muffler. The engine has been recently dressed up with Ford Blue paint and still has all its original equipment, from the air cleaner to the cast iron exhaust manifold. Even more important is the chassis, which looks fantastic after 45 years of cruising. The clunky 3-speed manual is gone, replaced by a quick-shifting C4 automatic that feeds a set of highway-friendly 3.20 gears, and without a big V8 up front, the ride is comfortable and handling is nimble. Original wire wheelcovers are framed by a set of 215/70/14 whitewall radials that have a lot of life left in them. Find out what early Mustang owners already knew-the six is a great alternative, especially with a top that goes down and bright red paint. Call today!
