Description:

Wait, before you look at the price on this 1973 Mustang, have a look at the specs: 521 cubic inches, 609 horsepower, 5-speed transmission, 4-wheel disc brakes, adjustable suspension, and a custom interior. Now, doesn''t that price look a lot more reasonable? Everyone''s building resto-mod Mustangs from the ''60s, but it''s about time someone grabbed up a clean ''73 fastback (AKA "flatback") and gave it a full pro-touring makeover. Not so radical that it needs to live on the track, but a car that is definitely going to be a handful for anyone foolish enough to tackle it on the street. The blue paint is unassuming and the body mods were kept to a minimum, basically amounting to the addition of a Boss 429 hood scoop to add a little clearance for the giant mountain motor underneath. Nevertheless, this car has presence, a look of predatory menace that goes beyond body modifications. I don''t know what it is, exactly, but I like it. Maybe it''s the lack of a rear spoiler and the purposeful monochromatic look, or perhaps it''s the stance and the way the wheels fill the fenders, or maybe it''s just the knowledge of what''s underneath. Whatever the reason, this Mustang attracts attention for all the right reasons and you can spend a day looking at it and not see all the tricks. The black leather interior, however, received a major makeover during the build. Deeply bolstered front buckets are backed by a factory rear bench that wears the same leather and running pony emblem embossed on its surface. The factory instrument panel was completely reworked to accommodate a set of Dakota Digital gauges that spring to life when you turn the key, delivering a very cool effect-even the center auxiliary gauges were converted. That Hurst T-handle is mounted to a Tremec TKO 5-speed manual gearbox and for purposeful looks, the console was omitted. Classic Auto Air handles the HVAC with an all-new system that uses the factory vents, and the custom Kenwood AM/FM/CD sound system delivers performance that''s as impressive as the engine. The trunk is fully upholstered and the work is done in a very OEM way that disguises the rear-mounted Optima battery and tucks the stereo amplifiers out of sight. That 385-series big block under the hood not only delivers the horsepower, but looks fantastic doing it. Pop the hood and folks will instantly know this is no garden-variety Mustang, but until you crack the throttle they won''t realize how potent it truly is. It was built for speed, including a massive aluminum radiator, billet accessory drive, and an MSD ignition. Long-tube headers feed a new Dynomax exhaust system that has been ceramic coated from end to end and was designed to improve ground clearance. The suspension is from Total Control, featuring adjustable A-arms and coil-overs up front and leaf springs with adjustable shocks managing the 9-inch out back. Custom subframe connectors with integral driveshaft loop reinforce the body tub in a way that you''ll feel from the driver''s seat, and a set of Baer 4-wheel vented and cross-drilled disc brakes provides retina-detaching stopping power. Handsome Halibrand-style wheels look great on any Mustang and wear 245/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rear BFG radials. Impressive is one word for this car that you''ll never get tired of hearing. A first-rate build with only 720 test and tune miles, it''s a show-stopper ready to rock. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom.
