There''s a unique relationship between Corvette owners and the aftermarket. There are literally millions of ways to customize your Corvette, and the owner of this 2004 Corvette coupe honors the brand''s success at LeMans with a few tasteful upgrades on what was already a great driver''s car. When the C5 went racing, it carried a pretty stock look save for a few tweaks that were obviously designed to help it win races. The biggest was a set of fixed headlamps to replace the none-too-aero folding units, and that''s exactly what you''ll find on this Sebring Silver coupe. Then there are the hash stripes on the front fenders, designed to allow spotters to instantly identify team members'' cars as they race by at 185 MPH, and as a tribute to perhaps the greatest Corvette in history, a split rear window. Obviously this car was someone''s pride and joy, because it shows just 39,573 original miles and the paint glows thanks to getting almost constant care over the past nine years. Simple screened vents help smooth the nose and out back there''s a unique air splitter at the base of the rear window and smoked taillights that still say Corvette, but do it in a way that''s different from everyone else. The black leather interior is still completely stock, but in a C5, that''s a big plus. This car seems to have just about every option, including the upgraded sport seats that are not only handsome, but comfortable for all-day drives. A heads-up display is surprisingly effective and you''ll eventually wonder how you got by without it, and the instrument panel is still a wonderfully effective demonstration of analog instrumentation. As GM''s flagship, the Corvette carries a lengthy list of standard equipment like power windows and locks, A/C (dual zone climate control in this case), a trip computer, and a robust AM/FM/CD stereo system. The C5''s biggest improvement, however, might be the totally usable trunk, which is fully upholstered and equipped with a luggage shade to keep valuables out of sight. Despite its status as a LeMans tribute, this Corvette runs its stock LS1 V8. With 345 horsepower on tap, it''s hardly a slouch in the performance department and the last 15 years have proven that the all-aluminum V8 is virtually indestructible in the real world. With its black intake and coil covers intact, this one has a neatly finished look that shows off careful maintenance and a conscientious owner who took pride in keeping it looking and running its best. It''s linked to a rear-mounted 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission through a torque tube, making the drivetrain an integral part of the suspension structure. And speaking of the suspension, it, too, is completely stock, so it doesn''t crash and bang over bumps like lowered C5s tend to do. If this car has seen the rain, it was only for the briefest of moments. Those shiny 5-spoke wheels are forged aluminum, not mere castings, and wear 245/45/17 front and 275/40/18 rear tires that are a big step up over the stock Goodyear run-flats. With the C7 hitting the market in a few months, the C5 Corvette remains a screaming bargain. Add in a few styling touches that set this one apart and this one represents a great opportunity for fast fun on a budget. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
