This absolutely stunning GT40 was shipped 12/23/66 from the Ford factory in Slough England to the Ford division in Dearborn Michigan to be used as one of seven Mk1s in the Ford promotion program. Factory finished in Carmen red with black interior, wire wheels and very desirable Weber carburetors. Upon completion of its duties in the promotion program, this GT40 was then sold to Ford dealer Al Grillo. The first private owner would be David Carroll of MA who used the GT40 in a Gulf commercial in the summer of 1969. That same year Carroll sold the car the race school owner well known car collector Skip Barber who would only retain the car for a little over a year before selling it to the next proprietor. The car would remain in his possession for almost 25 years driving it periodically and enjoying it properly. By the time he chose to relinquish ownership it would be 1994. The next owner, recognizing how it was such a beautiful unmolested car, he then commissioned a restoration to be completed by a marque specialist in its correct original livery of Carmen red. To this day, the car has seen less than 15,000 miles of use, it retains all of its original body work, original interior and unlike most street car GT40s was never converted into a race car. To this day it continues to feature its correct options including wire wheels and desirable Weber carburetors. The car also comes with lots of documentation including a copy of the Production Car Record Sheet documenting the original build of the car and even photos of it at the factory when new and being loaded up for delivery. This GT40 is surely one of the best, most original Mk1s in existence today. For Canadian Residents Advertised USD Price + Applicable Tax + Licensing.
