Description:

1931 Essex Street RodIn the world of street rods there is a good chance that greater than half that you walk up to are going to be an old Ford. Well this classic is one of those awesome few that is incredibly unique! It is a Hudson Essex 2 door sedan which are very rare classics to come across. It was finished in late 2002 and has only 1,000 miles since completion. It began life as 2 original steel Essex bodies and chassis. One of those was a 1929 and the other a 1931. Because the chassis was from the 31 it is titled as such. Both bodies were together used to create the car you see today which is very straight. There is no evidence that this wasn''t all one piece original. The attention paid to detail can be found throughout the car and is evident when you start checking it out close. The suicide doors, custom stainless grill, and suicide doors are just a few small examples of the custom features it has to offer. It is truly a 1 off 1 of a kind custom street rod. The following is a partial list of the components used in its construction but the car truly needs to be seen to be fully appreciated.Paint/Body:All Steel (Combination of 29 & 31 Essex)PPG Chrome Yellow (2 stage paint job)5 inch chopCustom Stainless Grill InsertFront Turn Signals incorporated into headlightsFront Turn Signals incorporated into headlightsHand formed Hood and Running BoardsColor Sanded and Buffed to deep shineFilled Roof32 Ford Headlights with custom headlight barRear cat eye tail lights (Very Bright)Custom hood hinges with pins for clean lookChassis:Original/modified 31 Essex (fully boxed)Mustang II style front suspension (fully polished)4 bar link rear suspension (polished)Rear Ford disc brakes (polished)Billet Specialty Wheels (20X10-rear, 17X7-front)Billet Specialty knock off center capsTCI Rack & pinion SteeringPolished adjustable coil overs both front & rearWilwood front disc brakes (fully polished)16 gallon custom aluminum fuel tankFalken Tires (295/40R20-rear, 225/45R17-front)Fully Powder Coated yellow to match body colorDrive Train:350 V8 GM 300 hp crate motorHooker Block Hugger Headers (ceramic coated)Flowmaster MufflersEdlebrock 650 CFM carburetorBillet Specialty Air CleanerBillet Specialty spark plug wire loomsCool Flex Radiator hoseTurbo 350 3 speed automatic transmissionMallory IgnitionDual 2 ΒΌ inch stainless exhaust with custom tipsPolished single plane aluminum intakeBillet Specialty Valve CoversChrome Alternator with polished bracketsNew radiator with dual electric fans (runs cool)Braider steel hose covers throughoutFord 9 inch (narrowed-posi) with 3:50 gearsInterior:Custom Bucket seatsCustom Leather headlinerLokar ShifterLokar gas and brake pedalsBillet Steering WheelAutometer (Antique Face with Gold Trim)Alpine AM/FM/CD Stereo SystemCustom rear storage areaStainless window & door trimTan Ultra Leather with Ostrich (imitation) insertsWool CarpetingLokar Emergency Brake leverIdidit Polished Tilt Steering ColumnCustom DashMatching Autometer clockBillet door hard ware (window cranks, etc)Custom Battery Box coverComplete Painless Wiring harnessAwards:NSRA (National Street Rod Association) poster car in 2003 and 2005Goodguys Pro Pick Award 2004Consistent winner of local car shows and car eventsISS Interiors Advertising/Promotional car from 2003 through 20061st in class at Fort Worth Rod & Custom for 2005, 2006, 2008This car really runs, drives and rides just as great as it looks.
