There are older fans of old cars who would feel undignified in a red Ferrari Testarossa. They don’t want to look like Mick Jagger pawing an unfeasibly innocent thing at a nightclub. Or Flavio Briatore doing anything at all. So for such souls of decorum I offer a bold solution: the Aston Martin Lagonda.Yes, I realise its lines divide. This Lagonda is unique: an unfancied Aston, included by Bloomberg in a list of ugly motors. Wedge cars, like wedge haircuts, hail from a period purists prefer to forget. This was never going to seduce with curvaceous beauty; more even than the angular Jaguar XJS, it horrified classicists. Yet it was hugely exciting and stole the motor show.It spoke of the future, and was the first production car to use computer management and (wildly unreliable) digital instruments. It was pure Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy; from 1984 it could even talk to you. Lagonda boasted Le Mans pedigree but since its post-war takeover had amounted to little more than a badge, designating a four-door variant of an Aston. But this Seventies shocker was a distinct car and, at 143mph in drawing room comfort, fully deserving of its “Lagonda” nomenclature. Each required 2,200 man hours to build, making this a very exclusive motor car. Yet thanks to that Marmite styling and thirsty engine it is now a relative bargain: £50,000 for a minter, £25,000 for a good one.The late, low-mileage version I try has surging power, regal comfort and incredible handling for a car more than five metres long. Only a slight wind noise reminds you that it isn''t new.Ugly? Perhaps. Cool? Unquestionably. Grow old gracefully but speedily – in a Lagonda.Quote, taken from Telegraph Motoring, 27th September 2013.Offered here is an extremely low mileage (only 14000 kilometres) lefft hand drive example of the flagship Aston Martin, cutting edge designed, gentleman''s express. The car is in absolutely superb condition throughout and will be a wonderful addition to any collection. it is extremely rare to find an original, genuine low mileage Lagonda with virtually as new appearance. Not to be confused with the neglected, high mileage examples.Available for viewing in our Kew showroom.Price£49,950
