This car is one of only 180 XJ-S convertibles made by Lynx Engineering in the mid-1980s. Fitted with an electrically operated hood, it was produced in response to customer demand several years before Jaguar themselves were offering the car in this open body style. The Lynx Convertible was the result of nearly two years development work as the removal of the unitary construction cars roof deprived the vehicle of much of its rigidity. Each conversion took ten weeks to complete. Additional strengthening panels were welded into the sill and door pillar areas, as well as behind the rear seat, though despite the presence of a bulky, power-operated hood, rear-seat shoulder width is only fractionally reduced and both headroom and legroom (what there ever was of it, at least) are unaffected. Much of the credit for the neatness of the XJS conversion must go to Lynx''s experience with their convertible Jaguar XJ6 and XJ12 coupes. This car was sold to the U.S.A before being imported to Holland where it resided in an impressive Jaguar collection. As can be proven by the various Certificate of Titles in the history file the car has covered a mere 20.000 miles from new. Only 352 V12 manual vehicles were produced, making it a rare machine indeed. In our opinion this car is finished in the best colour scheme and is to desirable left hand drive configuration. The XJS is grossly undervalued at present and this represents an excellent opportunity to obtain a car with the perfect specification. A modern, timeless classic that can still be enjoyed on todays roads.PriceĀ£15,950
