Launched in 1971 as Rolls-Royce''s coupe version of the Silver Shadow, the Corniche was a superior car to the saloon on which it was based. With fabulously elegant coachwork designed by Bill Allen, each and every one was hand built by Mulliner Park Ward in a necessarily lengthy process that took all of 20 weeks and resulted in a price some 50% higher than the standard Silver Shadow.Only the very finest materials were used including Wilton carpeting, Connolly hide and the best burr walnut veneers, giving these cars a level of quality and glamour that surpassed even that of the saloons. This lovely example is from just the second year of production, 1972 and has enjoyed effectively one owner as the car changed hands six months after it left the factory. Finished in peacock blue with a contrasting biscuit leather interior, the car drives particularly well and everything works as it should. On test, everything operated properly including the electric hood, windows and aeriel. The car has just had a major service to include a complete brake overhaul. Included in the sale is a factory issue travelling service kit, still in its original packaging: Everything here should you ''fail to proceed.'' The car also has its original service book. The Corniche represents the pinnacle of luxury convertibles, hand made by craftsmen and in its day one of the worlds most coveted cars. In our opinion the Rolls Royce Corniche is still exceptional value for money compared to other 4 seater convertibles and when an example of this quality comes up for sale then it should be snapped up without hesitation.Available for viewing in our Kew showroomPrice
