In 1957 the Triumph TR3A was introduced as a replacement for its predecessor, the TR3. The 3A featured improved design and mechanics. The car used a twin SU carburetor version of the 1991cc four cylinder standard Vanguard engine tuned to increase its output to 90 horsepower. With the overdrive fitted, the car could reach a maximum speed of 108 mpg and return 33 miles per gallon. The TR3A, built for the American Market, became a great sports racer because of its low cost, speed, durability, handling and ease to maintain. TR3''s enjoyed much success in competition rallies including the Coupe Des Alpes in 1958. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer the beautiful, restored 1958 Triumph TR3A you see pictured. The TR3A is a rarely seen little roadster that was only built for 7 years. This particular TR3A is finished in red with black interior, has been beautifully maintained, lovingly cared for and stored by the previous owner. The car has gone through a restoration several years ago but still looks very good. The car has been finished in bright red and looks beautiful with only a few minor imperfections. There are some minor scratches and chips to the body that are expected from age but none are major. There is a small ding in the hood - the previous owner stated that they shut the hood on one of the carburetor dampeners which, in turn, dinged the hood. The chrome is in great condition with a brilliant shine. The white canvas convertible top is in great condition, showing no signs of wear or staining. It does come with a matching white canvas boot and a tonneau cover in white vinyl for days when it just feels right to drive topless! We also have a new set of white side curtains that will need to be fitted to the car. The car also has a painted wire spare and new set of aluminum gravel guards included. The optional chrome luggage rack looks great! Inside, the interior looks great and has been recently reupholstered. The seats are wrapped in black vinyl with white piping and only show minimal wear. The black carpet and door panels are also in great condition. The dash is finished in black vinyl and looks very good with no buckling in the vinyl. From the outside, the car is obviously an eye-catcher, but it looks great on the inside as well! Under the hood is very clean and the little 4 cylinder runs great. The motor is nicely detailed and sits in a tidy engine bay. The motor is nicely painted and detailed and has all new correct decals. Recently, the TR3A was tuned up and had both an electronic ignition and gear reduction starter installed. The car runs cool after driving extensively in hot & humid Missouri weather! Mated to the 4 cylinder is a manual transmission. The little roadster sits upon a set of 15" chrome 60 spoke wheels wrapped in 165HR15 Vredestein tires that look great. There is a spare in the rear compartment. The VIN number is TS31789L and the mileage currently shows 13 miles. The car is being sold on a clean & clear, mileage exempt Missouri title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
