If you think the F5 Camaro is just another chintzy, gaudy ‘high school dreamboat’, it’s been a while since you took a good look at America’s best-selling pony car. From strip to show, it’s hard to find a better multi-purpose platform than a new Camaro. And when you combine 460 horsepower with a slick, 6-speed transmission, huge tires, Brembo brakes and a rock-solid chassis, you get first class performance that’ll match anything on the road. This one-owner, essentially new coupe is car number 23 of the highly exclusive Hendrick Performance H.O. Super Sport line. And if you enjoy going fast and turning heads, but don’t want to show up in the same car as 10 other Chevrolet loyalists, it’s a modern Detroit marvel that’s just your style! The first H.O. Super Sport equipped with an automatic transmission, and the first car shipped to the brand’s exclusive Jeff Gordon-owned dealership, this unique F5 started life with a long list of standard and optional equipment. Here’s a breakdown of the car’s original window sticker: 2010 CAMARO 2SS COUPE STANDARD EQUIPMENT: * 6.2 liter V8 that’s equipped with sequential fuel injection * 6-speed manual transmission * Limited slip differential * Performance suspension * Variable ratio power steering * ----- * Dual stage front airbag system that’s complete with passenger sensing technology * Side thorax airbags * Side head curtain airbags * OnStar * Stabilitrak system that’s complete with traction control technology * Brembo 4-wheel disc brake system * Theft deterrent system * Tire pressure monitoring system * LATCH system * Emergency trunk release * Battery rundown protection * ----- * Dual exhaust system that’s complete with polished stainless tips * Rear spoiler * 20-inch painted aluminum wheels * Intermittent windshield wipers * Heater power outside rearview mirrors that are complete with driver dimming * Automatic halogen headlamps * Daytime running lamps * Ultrasonic rear parking assist * ----- * Satellite capable, MP3 compatible AM/FM CD player * Boston Acoustics premium 9-speaker audio system * Universal home remote * HVAC that’s complete with air filtration * Driver information center * 4-pack auxiliary gauges * Front reading lamps * Auto-dimming rearview mirror * Tilt and telescoping steering wheel * Sport bucket seats that are covered in leather surfaces * Heated front seats * 6-way power driver’s seat * 2-way manual passenger’s seat * Full folding rear seat that opens a trunk pass through * Leather-wrapped steering wheel that’s complete with cruise control and redundant audio buttons * Bluetooth capability * Leather-wrapped shift knob * Carpeted front floor mats * Console that’s complete with two cup holders and two power outlets * Power door locks * Remote keyless entry * Power windows that are complete with express up and express down * Remote trunk release * Cargo convenience net * Rear window defroster * Tire sealant and inflator kit OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT: * RS Package ($1,200) * -- 20-inch flangeless aluminum wheels that are painted in Midnight Silver * -- Body-color roof ditch moldings * -- High intensity discharge headlamps that are accented by halo rings * -- RS-specific tail lights * 6-speed automatic transmission that’s equipped with remote vehicle start ($1,185) * Sunroof ($900) * White stripes ($470) STANDARD VEHICLE PRICE: $33,945 TOTAL OPTIONS: $3,755 DESTINATION CHARGE: $850 TOTAL VEHICLE PRICE: $38,550 With only 255 miles on its bright digital odometer, this showroom fresh Chevy is an as-new garage queen that’s assembly line perfect in virtually every way. A sinister coat of Black two-stage, which is accented by traditional White rally stripes, shows just how far GM paint technology has come from the days of multi-colored, 80s IROCs. Judging by that pigment’s top-notch appearance, I’m sure the literal hours of road time this coupe’s seen were executed under sunny North Carolina skies. And the car’s slab-sided body displays precise fit and excellent finish with ancillary hardware that functions well and seals great. Visually, the fifth generation Camaro is one of the most aggressive Chevys ever produced. And when that aggression is combined with GM’s high quality build techniques, it creates one seriously capable muscle car that shows with the finest classics and runs the fastest street warriors! Not overly styled, like some of its more common pony car counterparts, Hendrick’s limited edition Camaro takes GM’s award winning design and throws in just enough personality to create a familiar and refreshing profile. At the front of the car, Chevrolet’s 80s-inspired fascia is accented by bright halos, a white-inlayed bowtie and aggressive, Spartan-style ground effects. At the top of the car, a solid-sealing greenhouse wraps an optional sunroof in factory-tint glass. At the sides of the car, well-placed “HP” emblems highlight aggressively sculpted fenders that evoke Chevrolet’s classic, 60s-era ‘brow lines’. And at the back of the car, custom tail lights center a second, white-inlayed bowtie between a large decklid spoiler, a small “H.O. SS” call-out and a custom valence that’s complete with big, stainless exhaust tips. No car guy worth his salt will dispute the merit of anything with eight cylinders and a Chevrolet badge! This Super Sport’s ample power is supplied by a stout, 6.2 liter L99 V8 that’s based on GM’s award winning LS engine. Exclusive to the automatic Camaro, the L99 utilizes a cast aluminum block, high-flow heads, a high flow intake, an aggressive camshaft, offset rocker arms, upgraded fuel injectors and coil-near-plug firing to twist 10.7:1 compression into 367 rear-wheel horsepower and 374 lb./ft. of torque. This impressive mill is an excellent example of why some people believe today is the second golden age of performance. And, dressed in a cool, Hendrick-exclusive shroud, it shows surprisingly well. Mechanically, there are no leaks or squeaks of any kind, and the car’s engine bay appears just as clean as the day it rolled off GM Canada’s assembly line. Every original piece is present, in factory-new condition and ready to be modified for even better performance. And, thanks to GM’s Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation technology, it all returns excellent fuel economy. Take a look under this Chevy and you’ll find a slick-shifting Hydra-Matic 6L80 6-speed that’s suspended in a proven, road-ready chassis. The 6L80 is the highest capacity automatic ever installed in a GM passenger car, featuring either performance algorithm technology or, if you want to row through the gears yourself, paddle shifting. Power flows from that tough transmission to a limited slip rear end that’s fitted with friendly 3.27 gears. That drivetrain plays well with a sophisticated, Nurburgring-tested performance suspension which benefits from Stabilitrak traction and stability control. A sweet, but equally brutal soundtrack is provided by a stainless, Hendrick-tuned exhaust system. Variable-ratio power steering, big Brembo calipers and giant, vented rotors combine with factory ABS and electronic brake distribution to ensure this is the best handling Camaro to date. And the car’s power pounds the pavement via 20-inch Hendrick Performance wheels that spin 245/45 front and 275/40 rear Pirelli P Zeros around 64 silver spokes. Inside this pristine Camaro you’ll find a Black leather interior that displays virtually no wear at all. The car’s reverse-stitched and “SS” branded seats are supple, supportive and near perfect in every way. The dash, which features the same dark gray accents as the car’s reverse-stitched door panels, hangs traditional, silver-trimmed gauges between an autographed Hendrick Performance emblem and standard driver information center. At the center of that dash, controls for a Boston Acoustics 9-speaker sound system ride above factory four pack accessory gauges and a short, leather-wrapped shifter. Below those gauges, like-new carpet is protected by color-keyed floor mats and bright Chevy sill plates. Opposite that carpet, a self-dimming mirror prominently features GM’s award winning OnStar service. In front of the driver, an ornate steering wheel spins buttons for the car’s Bluetooth connectivity, Boston Acoustics audio system and cruise control around a standard tilt and telescoping column. Behind the passengers, a surprisingly spacious trunk features enough room for a weekend’s worth of luggage. And naturally, all the luxuries you’d expect in a high dollar muscle car are present and accounted for including: power windows, power door locks, heated power mirrors, a power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry and a standard theft deterrent system. The sale of this Carolina F-Body includes the aforementioned window sticker, a small pile of original GM manuals, a second key, a Hendrick Performance fact sheet, a Hendrick Performance dyno sheet, Hendrick Performance key chains, a few pieces of literature from Jeff Gordon Chevrolet and a few glamour shots. With its stout V8, world-class drivetrain and roster of desirable options, this Camaro delivers astounding performance with a surprising amount of luxury. And with its incredibly low mileage, top notch exclusivity and show-stopping good looks, it’s the kind of car you buy, enjoy on weekends and hang on to for a long time! If you’re looking for a great platform that goes above and beyond its common stablemates, it’s time you become the proud owner of a Hendrick Performance Super Sport!
