Description:

Sure, you can make your mullet jokes, but the fact is, second-generation Camaros are red hot right now, and this awesome 1971 Camaro RS is a spectacular resto-mod that definitely brings the heat. With a fresh 383 motor, a fantastic paint job, and that timeless Camaro look, this is the Camaro for guys who love to drive. To answer your first question, yes, this is a real RS complete with wide-mouth grille and delicate bumperettes that were about to be outlawed. Fortunately government hadn''t yet gotten around to emasculating the muscle cars in 1971, and there wasn''t a better-handling car on the market than the second-generation Camaro. Finished in the purest of bright red paints, it''s definitely an in-your-face piece of muscle, one that fortunately has the horsepower to back up the look. Workmanship is outstanding-you can see how straight this one is just from the photos and the reflections in the surface suggest someone sanded that bodywork until their fingers bled. The big grille with split bumpers make this the most desirable of the 2nd generation Camaros, and the details are exactly right. Chrome is excellent, the black SS stripes have been beautifully and expertly applied, reinforcing the notion that simply nothing looks better than a Camaro with stripes. The Camaro interior was a slam-dunk in 1971, and this car''s modifications put it over the top. The original buckets remain, now fitted with new seat covers in the original materials and patterns - after all, it''s hard to do it better than the factory. However, the wrap-around instrument panel now wears a trick carbon-fiber fascia and has been fitted with white-faced Auto Meter Ultra-Lite gauges for a contemporary, upscale look. Steering is via the original wheel, and while the burled walnut on the center console may look like it belongs in a Cadillac, the horseshoe shifter is still one of GM''s better ideas. For comfort, it carries factory A/C and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system in the original dash slot. This car also gets some points for originality, however, with very nice door panels, a clean dash pad, and, of course, an extra-clean trunk with a space-saver spare and the original jack assembly fully intact. Under the hood looks awesome, doesn''t it? The good news is that this car now sports a fresh 383 cubic inch stroker motor making 340 horsepower at the rear wheels. That''s stout! That power comes from a set of GM aluminum high-port heads, an Edelbrock intake, Holley carburetor, and Hedman long-tube headers underneath. There''s lots of chrome for a highly detailed look, you won''t ever be ashamed to pop the hood to let others look around. A fresh Flowmaster dual exhaust system sounds downright predatory and flanks the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and 3.40-geared 10-bolt rear end. The chassis is extraordinarily clean, even for a southern car, and this car carries the factory performance suspension package to it handles great. It rolls on a set of fantastic 17-inch Torque Thrust wheels with fat 245/40/17 front and 275/40/17 rear BFG radials. These cars have crossed over from runners-up to legitimate A-list collectables, and this awesome RS packs a few surprises, too. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom.
