Description:

In the world of collector cars, there are few blue-chip investments like a ''57 Chevy Bel Air. Finished in lovely Matador Red with a rumbling small block and a 4-speed, this is the ultimate ''50s cruiser that is a pleasure to drive and show. Recently painted and still in excellent overall condition, this Bel Air is simply stunning in person. Workmanship is quite good, with flat panels that fit together precisely and a two-stage urethane paint job that GM designers could only dream about in 1957. Look at the door gaps, the way the polished stainless trim flows from panel to panel, and the shiny paint and it''s clear that someone spent A LOT of money restoring this Chevy. The Bel Air''s trademark feature, those lovely anodized aluminum panels in the quarters, have been beautifully restored with crisp markings, and the rest of the chrome is fantastic and probably cost as much as a year in an Ivy League school to restore. And while this is a resto-mod and not a strict restoration, it''s nice to see that the restorer didn''t go overboard with options as so often happens with these cars. It''s just a clean, straight, bright red ''57 that''s easy to love. The fantastic red and black interior is the ideal match for the flashy bodywork. Fully restored with all-new fabrics and components, the seats show virtually zero wear since the restoration was completed, and the carpets are like new. Matching door panels are like fabric and chrome works of art, and in comparison to many dashboards of the era, this one is a model of simplicity. The gauges have all been rebuilt, and this car also includes a set of auxiliary gauges under the dash in the usual location. And as long as you''re building a resto-mod, why not add A/C, especially if you can do it as cleanly as in this Chevy, with subtle under-dash vents. There''s also an AM/FM/cassette stereo in the original slot in the dash, plus that cool Hurst shifter for the 4-speed that was neatly integrated into the floor. Open the trunk lid and you can see for yourself how clean and well-finished this car is, with solid quarters, a reproduction trunk mat, and a brand new spare tire. Thanks to generations of development, a modern 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 will slip right between the Bel Air''s fenders and deliver roughly twice the horsepower of the original 283. The small block sports an Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel carb, plus chrome valve covers and a bright air cleaner with ''Chevrolet'' proudly spelled out on its lid. No, it''s not show quality, but it does run superbly and will be easy to maintain for years to come without so much as a second thought, and it''s a ton of fun to drive. Underneath, it''s fairly clean with an all-new front suspension with power disc brakes and a new Flowmaster exhaust system that sounds awesome. And no resto-mod Chevy is complete without a set of Rallys with spinners and fat BFG radials. If you''re looking for a fun ''57 that doesn''t demand a lot of fussing and can run with some pretty serious hardware, this Bel Air fits the bill. From an owner who''s had it for more than 20 years, you know it''s something special. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
