Description:

If you can find a nicer early Ford pickup than this 1970 Ford F100 Ranger, buy it! With a laser straight body and black paint that''s about a mile deep, there can''t be many that are sharper. There''s also a great-running 360, a fresh interior, and lots of originality, resulting in one of the nicest F100s we''ve ever seen. Body panels fresh out of the press don''t look this good, never mind more than 40 years later. Clearly, someone invested a sizable pile of cash and many hours of spare time in this truck, and the result is impressive. If you''re a fan of these trucks (and who isn''t?), the handsome good looks come from a simple design that uses details to get the point across. Note the bright trim that runs from front to back, matched by stainless rocker and wheel well moldings plus aftermarket bed rails that are practical as well as stylish. Then there are those giant FORD block letters front and rear and a pair of chrome bumpers just for good measure. Against the black paint, it all glitters like jewelry, emphasizing just how straight this truck really is. Heck, you can see it just by looking at how crisp the reflections are in the paint. The stock look continues inside, but like the bodywork, it was done so well that it''s the workmanship not the materials that you notice. A black cloth bench is nothing remarkable, but it is comfortable and looks ideal with the black paint. The original dash is nicely preserved, with all the instruments working as they should and surrounded by an aftermarket steering wheel. It shows just 38,377 miles, which we believe to be original and is certainly believable given the condition of the truck. With a few burled walnut appliques, which were part of the XLT package, it actually starts to look kind of upscale in there. Add in a digital AM/FM stereo radio and a sliding rear window, and this is a truck you could happily drive every day. Under the hood, the original 360 cubic inch V8 still gets the job done. With great originality and a few thoughtful upgrades, it runs extremely well, delivering a good wallop of low-end torque with a crisp V8 burble from the twin tailpipes out back. Someone dressed it right, with Ford Blue engine enamel, a chrome open-element air cleaner, and a set of pretty Cobra LeMans valve covers. There are obvious signs of careful maintenance, including new plugs and wires, relatively recent hoses, and an orderly look to the engine bay that can only come from someone who cares. Underneath, it''s exceptionally clean, being a southern truck, and the C6 3-speed automatic is a willing travelling partner. Handsome Cragar mags wear 215/65/15 front and 255/60/15 rear blackwall radials and look period-perfect at the same time. Go ahead, try to find a cleaner F100. Or you could just buy this one and save yourself some time, since it really is as nice as it looks. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
