Back in the day, if you wanted a muscle car but needed a truck for work, you could pick and choose your options and end up with something truly cool like this 1973 Ford F100. With running gear that would look at home in a Mach 1 Mustang, a vivid red paint job, and oversized tires, this truck does more than just haul cargo. No, it''s not subtle with that paint job and not with those giant wheels, but it sure looks good doesn''t it? You''re so used to seeing these in boring ''70s colors that the bright red it wears today stands out. It also looks to have been very nicely refinished by guys who knew their stuff, because the shine is brilliant, the gaps are great, and the thing just has a very well-constructed look about it. Even the bed itself appears to have seen the ministrations of the bodyman, and today it''s almost too nice to carry anything. Fortunately, there''s a rubber mat so you can still put this one to work on weekends. Ford gave the F100 a lot of brightwork in an attempt to move it upmarket with the Explorer trim, and things like the bumpers, grille, and side moldings are in excellent condition. Hard to believe this is the same truck you ignored for all those years, isn''t it? The interior got a few select tricks to help make it stand out, most notably the red piping on the reproduction bench seat cover. The muscle car vibe is alive inside, which also includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, column-mounted tach, and a 4-speed shifter sticking out of the floor. Ford loved their square instruments, and they''re in this truck with bright markings and clear lenses, perhaps even having been restored, it''s hard to tell. The original AM radio still lives in the bright red dash, and even though paint code Y stands for Orange, there''s just no trace of it anywhere inside or out, a testament to the quality of the work. Newer black carpets help insulate the cab, adding to the upscale feel, and they''ve thoughtfully included a fire extinguisher, just in case (not that anyone''s expecting this thing to burst into flames). Finally, the Ford logo is proudly displayed on both the floor mats and the custom seat cover, just in case you forgot where you were. Muscle car-like performance comes from a 390 cubic inch big block V8 under the hood. With big torque that''s right for a pickup, it moves this bright red hauler with effortless ease. Dressed like it might have been when it lived in a Galaxie, it sports chrome valve covers, an open-element air cleaner with reproduction decals, and Ford Blue engine enamel. Backed by that 4-speed transmission, it feels torquey and smooth, and the tight feeling of the truck overall suggests that it was never used for heavy labor. Long-tube headers lead to a true dual exhaust system with Flowmasters, so it definitely has the right soundtrack behind it. And most notably, those giant 20-inch wheels totally fill the big wheel wells and spin 275/40/20 front and 275/45/20 rear Goodyear radials. Have your cake and eat it too with this awesome F100. Fast, smooth, and nicely finished, it''s an unusual choice that will stand out. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom.
