It''s amazing what a set of wheels will do for a car, and this dazzling 1959 Cadillac sedan, despite being 97% stock, certainly looks like a great candidate for the next Power Tour. Loaded with fully functional options and still carrying the ultimate in ''50s fins, this is the car for the guy who knows what style is. Dover White looks awesome on the massive Cadillac, which stretches more than 19 feet long. It''s most definitely a product of the anything-goes 1950s, and there''s simply nothing else that makes a statement like the fins on the back of this big sedan. A recent restoration gives it a sparkling presentation with ultra-straight sheetmetal with no nasty surprises hiding underneath-it really is as straight as it looks. All four doors fit well, and since this is the desirable 4-door hardtop without pillars between the doors, it has a very sleek, finished look. All the chrome and stainless trim was restored, too, and it makes me weak in the knees to think about what that must have cost, especially since that grille is made up of hundreds of separate little pieces that all needed to be smoothed, shined, and polished before plating. The Soft-Ray glass looks period perfect and is a nice touch on a factory air-conditioned car like this. The two-tone gray interior isn''t 100% factory correct, but it duplicates original patterns that look right in the elegant Cadillac. The cloth inserts are durable fabric with pleats and tufted buttons, plus the original arm rests in the center of the bench seats. The futuristic wrap-around instrument panel is pure jet-age styling and the original steering wheel has been wrapped in matching gray leather for an upscale feel. With a long list of options including factory A/C, power windows, a power front seat, and a newer AM/FM/cassette head unit has been neatly grafted into the original opening in the dash. There''s stretch-out room for everyone, particularly in back where accommodations like this are only found in stretch limos these days. And yes, the trunk is every bit as massive as you''d expect, with carpeting that might be original and a full-sized spare tire. A few custom touches dress up Cadillac''s 390 cubic inch V8, but like the exterior, there''s really nothing here that will raise a purist''s eyebrows. A bit of chrome on the original air cleaner and valve covers gives it a slick look, and with braided stainless hose covers and a shiny chrome fan shroud, it definitely stands out from the ordinary. The big V8 moves the Cadillac with effortless ease, but the dual exhaust system underneath gives it a muscular exhaust note that sounds luxurious without being hot-rod loud. Power steering and brakes make it easy to wheel around in parking lots (as long as you have a spotter!) and the Hydramatic automatic transmission is about as durable as they come. The list of new equipment is extensive, including hubs, shocks (air shocks in back), brake booster and master cylinder, and a fresh battery. The wheels are 15-inch Welds with 225/75/15 radials, but a set of original wheels and hubcaps are included with the car. A big, impressive Cadillac with monstrous fins and a bit of style. First-class travel never looked this good. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom. For more information, please call (817) 764-8000 or toll free (855) 877-2707.
