Good rods do everything well. You don''t have to make excuses for them, you don''t need a special sheet to explain to a stranger how to make it run, and they look sharp. This 1947 Ford is a full-sized rod that gets everything right, from the bright red paint and gorgeous interior to the fully sorted chassis that just works like it''s supposed to. There''s no missing this bright Vermillion Red Ford coupe, but that''s probably a good thing, since rods are all about personality. Not much changed in 1947, and Ford was still selling every car they could build to a car-hungry public, but it''s still nice to see this one wearing all of Henry''s brightwork. The body is restored and they resisted the urge to chop, channel, shave, and French the various pieces so it still looks like a 1947 Ford. Fit and finish are exemplary, with great gaps and even that tough lower door sill area lines up right and fits flush. Two-stage paint gives it an impossible shine and a deep rich color that will never hide from judges at a show, and many of the stainless trim pieces are brand new so they fit right and shine like chrome. And speaking of chrome, the pieces that are original were treated to a show-quality restoration, including the bumpers, handles, and the trick art-deco hood ornament. A pair of beautifully upholstered bucket seats anchor a simply superb interior. Yes, it''s bright and in-your-face, but given the red paint job, subtlety wasn''t really the point anyway. The driver''s side is power-actuated and is just one of the many features that this rod offers. Dig the matching rear seat, the stylish door panels, and the lightly modified original dash full of VDO white-faced instruments. A tilt column out of a Chevy S10 pickup fits right in the vintage Ford and with a custom billet wheel and custom leather rim, it''ll be easy to get comfortable behind the wheel. Southern Rods A/C has been discreetly tucked under the dash, along with an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit that powers some cleverly hidden speakers throughout the interior. The spacious trunk is upholstered to match, and offers lots of room for a week''s worth of luggage. Good rods also deliver plenty of performance, but do it reliably as well, so this Ford received a warmed-over Chevy 305 cubic inch V8 that''s been rebuilt and liberally coated in chrome. With just over 3400 miles since it was completed, everything still looks fresh and new, and it''s obvious that someone intended this car to be displayed with the hood open. It''s backed by a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and 3.73 gears in the pumpkin out back, so it manages to be both quick off the line and comfortable on the highway. Heidt''s provided a Mustang II tubular A-arm front suspension, and there''s a big Wilwood disc brake at each corner. As you''d expect, just about everything is new under there, including the gas tank, exhaust system, and all the lines and hoses. It gets that perfect stance from classic 15-inch Torque Thrust wheels wearing 225/60/15 front and 255/70/15 rear Michelin Pilot radials. Good rods like this are a special mix of great craftsmanship and quality parts. Get in and drive should be your motto, but don''t forget to pick up a few trophies along the way. Call today!
