In 1982, if you showed up in a new Corvette, you were well and truly The Man, and even today they engender a great deal of respect among the general public and with collectors. Representing the end of C3 production, this ''82 Corvette is an extremely nice driver with a few tasteful modifications that will make it stand out in a sea of otherwise similar fiberglass. White emphasizes the graceful curves of the C3 cars better than any other color, and with a few subtle modifications, it takes on a dramatic new look. The white paint is complimented by period blue stripes that work with the Corvette''s styling and emphasize the more dramatic areas on the hood and fenders. The "halo" over the passenger compartment was painted black, so it blends in with the tinted glass to create a kind of cockpit look. As a clean, unmolested car, all the panel gaps are factory correct and it fits together quite well overall. There are a few signs of use overall, but a weekend spent buffing and waxing this car will pay big dividends at show time. Dark blue leather is the only way to travel in your white Corvette, and the interior of this one is in great shape. The power seats wear fresh seat covers and a comfortable look that''s more sophisticated than you''d expect from a C3. In 1982, all Corvettes came one way: loaded, and included things like A/C, power windows, power locks, power steering, and even power mirrors with a cool little joystick in the center console. This one also includes cruise control, a tilt/telescoping steering column, power seats, and more recently, a digital AM/FM/CD stereo that fits neatly in the original radio''s location. Color-matched floor mats with Corvette logos on their faces do a nice job of protecting what appear to be the original carpets. And as a car with T-tops, you''ll be pleasantly surprised by the excellent condition of things like the dash pad and door panels, which haven''t cracked or dried out from UV exposure. The engine is an L83 350 cubic inch V8, which originally carried Cross-Fire fuel injection but now wears a fresh Chevrolet intake manifold and 4-barrel carb (the original Cross-Fire setup is included with the car). Installed less than 200 miles ago, it transforms the car, giving it a welcome dose of horsepower and even today performance is impressive with great torque available from very low speeds. The engine bay is tidy and shows signs of regular maintenance, and you just can''t miss the bright red distributor cap and open-element air cleaner that seem to scream "performance!" It''s backed by a first-year 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission (there was no manual transmission option in 1982) and the original rear end. The chassis is impressively clean and solid, and things like the exhaust system have been recently upgraded. The original aluminum wheels have been replaced by great-looking chrome wires which wear 255/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. This is a solid, well-maintained Corvette that isn''t ashamed to be what it is. Nicely optioned, it offers a lot of performance and luxury for not a lot of cash. Whatever you decide to do with it, this is a no-excuses car that delivers on the Corvette promise. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom.
