Description:

This 1969 Impala convertible is proof that big can also be beautiful. With the Camaros and Chevelles getting all the attention from muscle car fans, it''s easy to forget that Chevy made some extremely handsome full-sized luxury cars as well, with the Impala remaining their top-of-the-line offering. Factory air, power windows, and a host of other luxury features make this a ragtop that''s a pleasure to own and it''ll become your first choice for long road trips. All that sheetmetal probably needed ten gallons of the paint to end up looking this good. The Imp''s crisp bodywork speaks for itself and the crease that runs from nose to tail is sharp and well-aligned. Clad in gorgeous and correct code 40 Butternut Yellow that''s only a few months old, it has a fresh look that''s the essence of summertime and helps to reduce the car''s visual mass. The finish is quite nice throughout, with good prep and an impressive shine that''s practically mandatory on a big, flashy convertible-you can''t cut corners there. The massive front bumper wraps around the grille and headlights, while out back the six individual taillights are an Impala trademark from the very beginning. It''s also impressive that this car is what it is, no fake SS badges or over-hyped engine call-outs, just a clean, straight and downright pretty ragtop with a ton of presence. This car gets NOTICED. The Impala also allows you to take five of your buddies with you anywhere you go, and nobody will complain about accommodations. This is a truly massive car, but the interior totally makes the conspicuous consumption worth it. With comfortable benches fore and aft carrying newer seat covers, original black carpets, and white door panels trimmed in appropriate faux wood, the interior has no needs and is ready to help you hit the road. As I mentioned, fully functional A/C, a tilt wheel, a power seat, and power windows are welcome options but not particularly surprising for a big luxury-oriented cruiser like this, and the original AM radio remains in the dash. A new white convertible top with glass rear window has been fitted, giving the Imp an upscale look. Under the hood is the original 327 cubic inch V8, which moves the big ragtop easily and with a great rumble from the new dual Flowmasters underneath. Efforts were obviously made to keep the engine bay looking fairly stock, and Chevy Orange paint combines with a black factory air cleaner and finned aluminum valve covers to keep it all GM. Power steering makes this full-sized car handle with just your fingertips, and the maintenance is up to date with recent hoses, fluids, plugs, and wires. The chassis is solid and rust-free, with a TH350 3-speed automatic, air shocks for the rear axle, as well as effective power front disc brakes. And with a big car, you need the right rolling stock to fill the wheel wells, and this one doesn''t disappoint with factory Rally wheels and fresh 15-inch whitewall radials. Luxury motoring never looked so good as it does on vintage GM convertibles, and this Impala has been tastefully restored to not only be a pleasure to drive, but to get tons of attention while doing it.
