Description:

When this 1966 Chevelle convertible rolled in, more than one person simply said, "Wow," which I think sums it up brilliantly. Meticulously restored to modern resto-mod standards, this car represents the best of both worlds. And after investing over $60,000 to make this one the car you see today, it shouldn''t be hard to understand why this one is so impressive. Exceptionally well finished, this Chevelle has all the hallmarks of a car that started out as a solid, high-quality piece and was restored to greatness. Bodywork is impressive, with a uniform look to the sheetmetal, and expert prep under the paint, this is one you can proudly drive to any show of your choosing. Gaps show that someone cared when putting it back together, and the hood features cool faux vents that were all the rage back then, and it''s a refreshing change from the faux cowl-induction hoods utilized in most of the other builds you''ll find out in the market. And then there''s that paint. Maybe 1966 Chevelle experts will call it Regal Red, but no factory paint ever glowed like this car does and it''s been rubbed and buffed to a simply impossible shine. Stainless trim has been polished, and ''Malibu'' badges installed on the rear quarters, because this car isn''t trying to be something it''s not. It wears a blacked-out grille up front and both bumpers have been straightened and re-chromed. Black buckets are the only way to fly on a car like this, and they present in as-new condition with zero signs of usage. The original dash was plain and simple, but thanks to a trick gauge panel, it''s now full of Auto Meter instruments that not only look awesome, but keep a much closer eye on the engine. The console is an ultra-cool piece with a built-in clock, and the original shifter (which looks like a piece of modern art) now controls a built 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. This is also a factory A/C car, with the system full of upgraded components and R134a refrigerant, so it''s easy to service. An AM/FM/cassette stereo has been fitted in the original location. The black convertible top fits so well we were almost afraid to put it down, but it works perfectly with just a touch of the button. And in back, the trunk is finished to stock specs, right down to the full-sized spare. The engine bay is a nice combination of original parts and quality aftermarket equipment. A fresh crate 350 looks right and makes plenty of power to make the Chevelle a blast on the street. Cool billet valve covers have ball-milled details, and it''s fed by an Edelbrock carburetor and intake. Long tube headers feed a true dual exhaust system with Flowmasters that let the engine speak with that characteristic small block bark under throttle. The chassis is solid and clean, framing the 700R4 transmission and 10-bolt rear suspended on new Gabriel air shocks. It rolls on a set of classic Torque Thrust wheels wearing 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear BFGoodrich T/A radials. Heavily documented with a great color combination and comfort upgrades like the A/C and overdrive transmission, this is one heck of a Chevelle. Let the other guys worry about investments; you''ll be having too much fun behind the wheel. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
