Description:

Just your basic 1968 Camaro SS hardtop in Tuxedo Black? Guess again! With a stout 383 under the hood, an overdrive transmission, and impressive attention to detail, this car is anything but ordinary. And quite honestly, if you''re going to be this fast, it''s probably better to wear black just to let everyone know to give you a wide berth. You already know that black is a double-edged sword: nothing looks better, but you need to do all your work in advance to ensure that it looks as good as possible when it''s done. Fortunately, the guys tasked with refinishing this SS were pros, and the results speak for themselves. This is a real code 730 Tuxedo Black car, which made the details easy, but things like the gaps, the cowl-induction hood, and the extremely smooth sheetmetal only came from hours of intensive hand work, and it shows. The black vinyl top is beautifully installed with no wrinkles or gaps, and given how clean this car is underneath, it''s highly unlikely that there was ever any rust underneath. White SS stripes look fabulous, and correct badges, from the SS emblems on the nose to the ''327'' notation on the front fenders (not quite, but more on that in a minute), to the dual-element taillights all give it a very authentic look. The glowing black and white interior is the ideal choice for this black and white bruiser. New seat covers, door panels, carpets, and a fresh headliner all give it a new feel inside, and many feel that the 1968 buckets are the best of the early Camaros, combining an upscale pattern and inset medallions with the low-back bucket look that defined performance in the ''60s. The factory instruments are probably original and still in good shape, assisted by a column-mounted tach and a trick quartet of auxiliary gauges down on the console in the factory tradition. Even the entertainment has been upgraded with an AM/FM/cassette system with a CD changer in the trunk and a power antenna on the rear deck. The trunk also features a correct mat and a matching Rally wheel with jack assembly. Technically, I suppose you could call the engine under the hood a 350, but it''s been punched out to 383 cubes to give it the performance of a big block and the weight of a small block. Wearing Chevy Orange, the potent stroker inhales through an Edelbrock intake and a Holley 4-barrel and exhales through a set of long-tube headers and a pair of Flowmasters. There''s just enough chrome on the engine to make a statement, and it''s extremely clean showing careful attention to the build quality and excellent maintenance ever since. The TH350 3-speed automatic, as usual, offers crisp shifts and feeds a durable 10-bolt rear, so you don''t have to worry about having some muscle car fun in this one. Handsome Rally wheels really stuff the wheel wells with their 205/70/14 front and 245/60/14 rear white-letter radials. A lot of Camaro with a ton of performance, all at a very affordable price. Cars like this are a lot of fun to own, and they''ll hold their value better than almost anything else on earth. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
