This car is one of only 482 Sport-cabriolets that were made in Eisenach with the 80 HP twin-cam engine. According to the very first handwritten registration document this car was first road-registered in Portugal on April 17, 1948. The first owner kept this car until 1960 when it went to the 2nd owner.

In 1973 during the inauguration of the Autodromo Estoril a classic car race was held there and this BMW was entered and won the race. With this race in mind the car had been restored. The owner used the car until circa 1980 and then he put the car into storage. After his death in 1999 the car was kept by his family until in 2001 a friend offered to buy the car.

That friend is today still the present and 3rd Portuguese owner of the car. The car then went for further storage into the collection of the new owner until he decided recently to start driving the car again. Engine and gearbox were sent to a specialist in England for repair and overhaul.

During the building of the new engine and gearbox the other mechanics of the car were all serviced and checked. Repairs were made were necessary but the cosmetics of the car were left as it was as the car was still in very good overall condition.
