Description:

The second incarnation of the Cortina was designed by RoyHaynes, and was launched on 18th October 1966. One of the bestloved versions of that Cortina appeared in 1967, the 1600E, whichwas introduced at the Paris Motor Show in October of that year. The1600E offered a blend of sporting style and luxury with itscomprehensive specification. Standard equipment included sportssuspension, Rostyle wheels, spot lamps, vinyl roof and metallicpaint. The mechanical specification included a 88bhp, 1600ccCortina GT engine which achieved a fuel consumption of 25 miles pergallon and disc brakes. The 1600E interior came equally wellequipped and included special rear bucket seats, reclining frontseats, sports steering wheel, extra instruments and a wood trim.Production ended in 1970 and, despite attempts at reviving the ideaof an "Executive" version of other, later models, Ford neverrecaptured the original feel of the Cortina Mk II based 1600E. For1969, the Mark II model was given subtle revisions, with separate''FORD'' block letters mounted on the bonnet and boot lids, a blackedout grille and chrome strips above and below the rear lightsrunning the full width of the rear panel. The second incarnation of the Cortina was designed by RoyHaynes, and was launched on 18th October 1966.
