Go anywhere and do anything with this ultra-rugged 1977 Ford Bronco. Thanks to a new fiberglass body, a powerful 302, and a 5-inch suspension lift, this is the kind of heavy-duty off-roader that can climb the side of a mountain and leave you grinning all the way up. With SUVs getting bigger and bigger every year (even the ubiquitous Jeep Wrangler is positively gigantic these days), it''s easy to forget how well these compact Broncos worked. This Bronco definitely delivers, along with a sporty, playful personality and look-at-me cosmetics. The body is a fiberglass reproduction, a smart move because it''s virtually indestructible, so those inevitable bumps and dents you get with a steel truck are a thing of the past. And forget rust; this one will last forever. The body has been finished to a very high standard, and we do have a set of original steel doors that have been painted to match, so it''s still a highly usable truck. The two-stage urethane offers incredible gloss, and the color is bright enough to be seen from orbit. It is fitted with a black hardtop, which adds practicality, but can easily be rendered topless by removing just a few bolts. Thanks to a set of black fender flares, you''re ready to hit the trails. This Bronco is strictly a 2-seater, thanks to a pair of comfortable buckets up front with fresh upholstery that looks suitably vintage. There''s a wide center console between them that handles your drink order and keeps things from falling out when you go vertical. All the original factory gauges are in place, fitted to a fabricated aluminum dash, along with a set of auxiliary gauges down low and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo unit. A Hurst T-handle shifter manages the 3-speed manual, while just to its right is the control lever for the transfer case. The Grant GT steering wheel is the lone concession to luxury in this vehicle that''s built to tackle forbidding terrain. The rear area is a massive cargo hold, so pack up your camping gear and go someplace nobody''s ever been before! The top engine in the early Bronco was Ford''s venerable 302 cubic inch V8, which makes great power and torque for the application without adding a lot of weight. Dressed in Ford Blue and wearing an Edelbrock carburetor, it looks great and runs well, pulling the truck around with muscle car levels of torque. The engine bay is tidy, with clean wiring and no signs of previous damage or abuse, and it''s rust-free underneath. The suspension wears a 5-inch lift, as well as a Rancho steering stabilizer, so it can climb over boulders the size of a Volkswagen, yet the ride is still fairly comfortable on the street. The exhaust system is new and sounds cool with a great V8 rumble, and it rides easily on polished aluminum alloys and massive 35-12.50x15 BFGoodrich All-Terrain radials.
