This 1971 Chevelle SS454 is what you get when one guy sets out to build the ultimate muscle car. Big block power, a fantastic red and black paint job, and wrapped in what might be the best-looking sheetmetal of any Chevelle ever built. There''s a ton of money tied up in this car, and it runs every bit as well as it looks. If you''re going big, you may as well paint it red, and the guys who did the work on this one were craftsmen of the first order. The bodywork is simply fantastic, with great fit and panels that reflect light almost distortion-free. All the wonderful details of the late A-body design are there, including the character line that runs from nose to tail, and the fully functional cowl-induction hood. And no Chevy ever came out of the factory with paint that is as vivid and deep as the finish on this Chevelle, which almost begs you to reach out and touch it. The stripes have been painted on and are not decals, and follow the factory pattern exactly. Beautiful chrome bumpers have been restored to show standards, and SS badges, along with the ''cowl induction'' emblem on the hood, and the ''Chevelle'' script all ensure nobody will mistake this for a garden-variety piece. Other items like the tinted glass give it a sinister look, but that''s exactly how you''d do it, right? Inside, it remains largely stock, because there''s not much you can do to improve on one of Chevy''s best designs. The factory gauges are all fully operational, including the factory tach, but it never hurts to have an extra set of eyes on things, which is why you''ll see the auxiliary gauges below as well. The seats have been reupholstered using correct materials and patterns, and the carpets are all new. With a built TH400 3-speed automatic underneath, the horseshoe shifter and center console were a natural choice. You''ll also note factory A/C (now upgraded with R134a refrigerant), and an AM/FM/cassette stereo, all sensible upgrades that make this car a pleasure to drive. But the real fun of this one is the thumping 425 horsepower 454 under the hood. Beautifully detailed for show, there''s a ton of chrome and polished aluminum in the engine bay, from the air cleaner to the master cylinder. A modern serpentine belt system spins the accessories, which improves reliability, and all the hoses are stainless for a high-tech look. It barks to life through a set of long-tube headers feeding an X-pipe and Flowmaster mufflers underneath, and out back there''s a 12-bolt that''ll survive any kind of punishment the big block dishes out. Beautiful polished 17-inch Torque Thrust wheels are the perfect touch-custom, but perfectly appropriate, and they wear fresh 255/50/17 radials at all four corners. Sometimes cars just stand out for how well-integrated they are, and this is one of those time. A cool car with a ton of performance. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
