1972 Dino 246 GTS The Dino 246GT represented a major step for Ferrari as it was the first regular production model to feature both a mid-engine configuration and an engine of fewer than 12 Cylinders. Ferrari's racing cars had earlier featured various engine layouts - inline 4, inline 6, V6 and V8 models were all raced in different forms but the Dino V6 represented a first for a strictly road-going model. Of course, it was never officially a Ferrari, as Enzo still insisted that a Ferrari road car should have 12 cylinders and no less. But given his devotion to his son Dino, who inspired the design for the lightweight V6 engine, Enzo pressed on with the project - and we're forever grateful that he did! The 246 GT Dino has been consistently ranked as one of the best driving Ferrari road cars ever built. The light weight chassis and mid-engine layout make for a car that is brilliantly balanced and remarkably direct. On this numbers-matching example, the experience is magnified further by the removable roof panel, included in the sale. Speaking of driving experience, this particular GTS has also been further enhanced with modern alloy wheels and performance tires, though original alloys are included in very nice condition. Larger aero mirrors are also fitted to aid visibility and provide a sleek appearance and a high quality Tubi-Style exhaust system has been installed which provides great looks and a glorious sound. Modifications to this car are sympathetic and can be easily reversed for the more purist-minded buyer. The interior has also been tastefully upgraded with grey cloth inserts in the original seats and new carpeting while the original mouse hair dash material is in very nice condition. As you can see by the photos this car is in excellent overall condition, with a properly maintained engine bay and high quality paint work. The previous owner of this Dino has maintained it mechanically through the expert hands at Black Horse Garage for many years, and has always stored it in climate controlled garages. The car has seen sympathetic use and represents an excellent opportunity to get into a truly legendary vehicle. Please contact John Buonanno with your questions, at
